Started on this last week... Trying to get used to Roden kits as this is only the second I ever do.
Those decals leave alot to be desired.
but for now... Some Rotary work!

You have made a great start with this model, the engine is looking really nice.

I'll watch this with interest as I have one of these in my stash. Before you start I recommend consigning the Roden lozenge decal to the dustbin and investing in some Aviattic lozenge.

Yea I should have but I rolled on with it..
Im one that builds alot of stuff out of the box..Rarely adding details that arent already supplied and have never messed with PE in my life. So this build is OOB
I have the cockpit 90% done... Fuselage is together and decaled. Will try to get pics later.
If there is one thing that I do despise about this kit... is the landing gear struts....why oh why do they have to be single struts lol

Great start! The EV is one of my favorite aircraft of the Great War even though it was only around for a short time!

Thanks yall.
Those struts are the fear I have for this kit but with some severe patience and a good bit of Wild Turkey I will prevail.
Here is how she is lookin so far!

Cracking start. Good luck with the struts. Patience will be the key

That is looking really good, the striped tail is excellent and the lozenge fuselage is superb.

You're doing a great job on this so far Cajun! You're my new hero for making Roden decals work. What's your secret? Seriously, spill the beans on that.
BTW, I was at the Wild Turkey distillery this last week. 8)

Yes, those struts aren't exactly fun. By the time I finally had them on straight I bumped the model to tin of Humbrol I used for support and it promptly went on skewed. Of course I used good old tube glue and did not notice it was skewed, and I could not get it off in one piece, so I left it as is...
Except for the undercarriage, one of Roden's better fitting kits. :)
[edit] Here's mine from a few years ago: http://modelingmadness.com/review/w1/ger/koenev.htm
It was only my third WWI model and I would do many things different now! :)

Cajun,
Excellent progress to date my friend. It's a shame about those wheel disc decals, but as you said it's an easy fix. Looking forward to the next update. Until then Keep Calm and Carry On.
