I just discovered this cool product on Facebook. It's called the Fantastic Third Hand and can hold your airplane at any angle for better access for rigging. It looks very easy to use. I have no connection to this company and I just ordered one. They have a special holiday deal until the end of the year and also offer free 2-3 day shipping to anywhere in the US. The price is very reasonable. They can be found only on Facebook. Search for Kronos Designs. They have photos and a video demonstrating the product.

Oh yes very nice tool! :D
But 90 Dollar and only in the USA :-[

They are having a special for $59. You can buy it if you're outside the US, but the shipping isn't free.

Maybe when i wait little bit longer, the prize is going down to 40 Dollar? ;)
No, i wrote him a mail, to ask about shipping to germany.
Thank you for sharing George!
This is one more beer for you in Berlin! :D

Thanks George for the heads-up on this tool, looks to have plenty of possibilities.

Can you pretty please tell us what price for shipping is after you get his reply? :) Thank you!

Sure, with pleasure :D

Hi,
Only the shipping to Berlin is 67 Dollar!
This is to much for me. :o :o
So I have to think about something else.

No surprise. Shipping costs from the US to Europe seem to have exploded during the last two years, even disregarding the bad exchange rate from USD to € nowadays.
I used to buy a lot of books in the US, as they were much cheaper, even including shipping costs and import taxes, but those days have gone...

Kronos is quick! Ordered mine late night before last and it's on the way now. Excellent service.

Yes, they are very fast. I emailed them Sunday night and they responded within the hour. It's supposed to be here tomorrow (Wednesday). Very friendly too! :)

I have ordered mine yesterday.
I have luck, because i have a sister in law in Pennsylvania, and she is bringing my package next year to Germany :D
So, i have to wait a little bit, but this is OK.

Trying to find someone I know in the US who can do likewise.

Great to hear that you found a way to get one, Jörg! Do I still get that beer in Berlin? ;D

Hi George,
I have to thank you for bringing this one to my attention. I emailed Paul and ordered one right away. He could save me on shipping cost to Canada by leaving out the base plate, which is just a big chunk of steel that I can source locally. So mine is on it's way as we speak. Looks like a very useful tool for me and my clumsy hands!
Cheers,
Gary

I got mine today, only ordered it on Monday! Now I just need to figure out how to put it together.....

Mine just arrived too. It should come with a simple assembly diagram, but I guess I'll go to the Facebook page and study the photos to figure out how to put it together. ???

There was no diagram, but once I'd pulled up the pic of it, it was obvious how it went together. Should be very useful!

Hi George,
Thank you, and sure, you get the beer!
when it should really work out, some beer will probably go over the counter! ;D ;)
But now have a merry Christmas and lots of fun with your third Hand!

Just received mine. Excellent workmanship, well thought out. I'm looking forward to using this on my next model.

Mine just arrived in the mail - great service. Other than I'm missing four of the hex screws needed to attach the side arms (which I can pick up at the hardware store), I'm very pleased with the tool.
Cheers,

Got mine today.

Good day,
Just wanted to post an update after using the tool for the last couple of weeks. Due to limited space at my work area I thought that this device would be a handy way of limiting the tricky handling of a 1/32 scale rigging project. Not only is it good for that, but also helps when adding and painting details, decals, etc. The small nylon fastening screws are a bit tough to twist with fingers, but do have a slot for a small screwdriver if necessary. I did source the metal base locally, which saved me a few $$$ on the tool itself and shipping cost.
All in all, I like it and would not want to be without it.

Thanks for posting your photos, Gary. It's a shame about the high shipping cost to Europe noted in earlier posts because this looks such a useful tool.
Best wishes

I've been quoted $100 delivered.
I'm going to order one - looks superb for construction & painting.
If I am correct in remembering that you live in the UK, then $100 USD is a good price. I was quoted $110 and later refunded $25 as the shipping was less than expected, for a grand total of $85 USD shipped to Canada. So $100 anywhere overseas is a good deal. If you're not in the UK just ignore me and assume I just fell off my nut for thinking so.
-
Hi,
the price for the delivery also did not matter to me. I can only send from my sister in law in the United States the packet. So I did not have to pay at least the costums.
I do not regret it. a very nice part and very helpful! :D
Kindly regards

Yes it is almost priceless. I no longer have to have my wife help me hold things. I don't think I'll miss trying to communicate by pointing with my nose saying "there, no there." I should ask if she has noticed that I don't bug her for help anymore.
-
I must admit, I've found it to be way too big, and therefore no use at all in 1:72. The mounting clamps just won't fit between the wings so it's not been used once......a great idea but too cumbersome for small scale....

Mine arrived yesterday,$100US delivered to Australia,a great deal considering the weight even without the baseplate-a 5lb dumbell weight works fine as a base.I expect my future builds will show a lot less errant fingerprints, and rigging will be much easier.
