Hello!
Took me a while to complete this model (about 6 months), but here it is finally. Great kit, but attention is needed in some steps. Big problem was Wood & Wire decals which I readied as instructions adviced, but still they were extremely fragile. It was impossible to use masking tape even after several layers of varnish, as decals ripped off from the carrier film. Anyway, after some cosmetic surgery and careful painting, I managed to put them on the place. This was my second WW1 kit and it's quite rough in some places, but I'm trying to learn slowly...

Nice work jnzku! (how do you pronounce that?)

That's a lovely neat build - very well done with that. Even more so bearing in mind your fragile decals.

Thanks to you all for kind words! The decals were quite serious damage to motivation in this build. Took me several days just to figure out how I can finish the painting because it was impossible to use mask tape.
I can't really take credit for the photos: my girlfriend is a professional photographer and it would be crime not use her skills :)
Bo, not sure if you can pronounce it, it's just a twist from my first name :)

Well done. :)

Please let your girlfriend know how much we appreciate the quality of her photographs of your model! They are some of the nicest I've seen here!

Very nice work! What tips would you have for anyone that plans on using the W&W decals?

Not to butt in and answer for Janne, but my tip for using W&W decals is don't. Use Aviattic instead! ;)

I would try Aviattic as George says. I know that some here have used W&W with good results, but my skills could not really handle them.
George, I'll give her the greetings :)
Thanks for all the comments again!

Lovely D.VII Janne, and you recovered from the decal problems very well. I had a similar experience using W&W, found them far to "delicate" to work with successfully. My compliments on your patience, and a very nice model!
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you Lance! I actually used your brilliant model as reference and inspiration when building mine. :)
You did outstanding job with W&W decals and the whole kit.
-
Thanks Janne. I suggest you now try the Aviattic version for a comparison, I think you'll have a pleasant surprise!
Cheers,

I have used the Aviattic decals on 3 of my builds and they are an absolute joy to work with. I have the W&W set for the Hannover and was looking for advice on using them.

Rough bits? Where? I think that you are having us on - that is a superb model in every way and one to be really proud of. Everything about it says "quality". The photos are excellent too - all credit to your girlfriend. More of the same please!!
Stephen.

I'm impressed with this build, and it's hard to imagine all the trouble with the decals when one views the final result - excellent! You did an exceptionally nice job on accenting the detail of the model on the engine cowling, and weathered other areas of the white finish very well. I always found working with a white finish difficult on any model, and you have pulled it off beautifully. Well done indeed!
Cheers,
Gary
