Title: Pegasus Bristol M1C 1/72
Post by: bristolboy on December 02, 2015, 03:06:51 AM
Firstly hello as this is my first post on this forum.
I recently started a 1/72 M1C and posted some early progress shots on Britmodeller but suspect this is a much more discerning place to post such things!
So here goes... the kit is basic, only about 10 parts and I decided to do the stripey finish below.

I followed the Pagasus instructions and fitted the 'missing' struts in the wing root cut out only to have it pointed out that these don't exist on the real thing.

So after a faulty start this is where I am upto at present.

Welcome aboard, Bristol!  You've come to the right place for all things re WWI aviation.  You're off to a brilliant start on your M1C.  I really like that scheme and it looks like you're doing a masterful job of it.  Looking forward to more.
Cheers,
Bud

bit of an update, the model is now turning into a stripey kit of parts, much easier doing it this way than trying to mask an assembled model. The fuselage stripes took three attempts to get it to look any thing like the drawing mainly due to the models fuselage being fatter than it should be. I have also realised that the stripes show through the roundels so will have to provide a white circle to sit them on. I have only just realised that the upper roundel and fuselage one has a white border but the lower wing does not, this seems common to many ww1 examples, I can only assume that usually the upper surface was a darker colour and it helped the emblem to stand out?
The kit tail is undersize so I have scrapped it and fashioned a new one from Plasticard.
Assembly next and then the fiddly bits.

Very nice work with the stripes, I can imagine that it would have been a time consuming job, well done.
