Hi:
Did the French use the Hotchkiss on the Type N in 1915 or did they use the French Vickers or something else? As always thank you so much for your assistance.
Thanx,
Carl

early hotchkiss like the gaspatch hotchkiss m 1909 version.not the later heavy gun which was mainly used on larger craft
-
Thank you so much. Perfect, I have one of those beauties in my stash.
-
I think they used both:Vickers cal. 7,7 mm or Hotchkiss cal. 7,9 mm

Glad to see you back in it, Carl! Be sure to check your references. It'll be obvious from the photos which aircraft used which gun. Most, but not all, of the French aircraft used the early light Hotchkiss. The British Moranes used Vickers or Lewis guns.
Cheers,
Bud

Thank you Bud. I'm doing a French N for the group build and the machine gun in the Special Hobby kit looks like a Lewis gun and I've found any pictures of either plane offered in the kit.

one of the special hobby kits is a french version.that one has the black cowl on the box,it has a hotchkiss.the brit version has a red cowl on the box and has a lewis gun.the vast majority of french ones did use a hotchkiss but checking references wouldnt be a bad idea.
