Having read this thread http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=6445.0 I realized that I have rarely put any of my models on here. This is because they are fairly rough compared to the work that is displayed here normally, but that is exactly what the thread is about. So, to start your day off with a chuckle here are most of my builds, (there are two up in the loft, but they're never coming back down. :-[)

And a couple of more recent builds. I got the colour a bit wrong on the Roland, the decals disappeared from view when I put them on the fuselage, having had some tips on here I will have another go at this some time.

Sadly the varnish went a bit odd on this, I almost binned it at one point because the whole of the top wing was covered in a horrible white film, I repainted the wing but the decals still look pretty horrible.

You have a wonderful collection of models Ken and nothing at all to be ashamed of. The build and painting on these models is very well done, I'm glad that you decided to display your models here.

Well done for taking the plunge, Ken. You have a very neat collection there and its great to see a number of French types. Whats next on the list?
Best wishes
Nigel

Thanks, Des and Nigel. At the moment there's another Albatros on the bench.

It is a lovely and colorful collection of models,
very nice!

That is a terrific collection, Ken. :D What scale are they?
Thank you for sharing your talents with us and I am looking
forward to seeing the new Alby when it is rolled out.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks, Ernie. The last three are 1/48 all the others are 1/72.

All good work on display here - nice collection of the Revell 72nd scale range of WW1 aircraft.
Well done, mate.

Very nice collection, Ken! I'm glad you were inspired by Jörg's post to share your work with us. I'm sure you'll find that this is a friendly group of modelers with all variety of skill levels.
I think most of us are just interested in sharing our work, asking questions to further our skills, and enjoying and learning from the work of others. I know my skill set has gone way past what I thought was possible before I joined. I would highly recommend doing a build log next. The feedback and encouragement you'll receive will take your modeling to new places.
Cheers!

I too am very pleased that you have plucked up the courage and taken the plunge to show us your models. I have to say that there is nothing to chuckle about there: the painting on them is superb and every bit as good as many other models shown on this site, including my own.

I wholly agree with the above statement from George - I too have gained in confidence and skill through posting here and have been very encouraged by the positive feedback, helpful advice and supportive comments that inevitably appear whenever I post anything. Do keep posting your work - they are well worth showing to others.

Lone Modeller has said my thoughts so very well, Ken. I'm pleased you found and joined our group, and more pleased you chose to display your works here. Well done!

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Ken,
What a great model collection you've built my friend. I so glad you decided to go ahead and post them here. As you've seen here at this awesome forum our members run from Master Level modelers to newbies.Always remember that at some point in time even the Master Level modelers were newbies too.I believe you'll also see that the majority of us are somewhere in between the two levels of skill. No one need be concerned that their builds aren't good enough to be posted here at all. We're all here on this forum learn from each others projects and to share our own projects and above all enjoy our beloved shared hobby.
Again thank you for sharing and I hope we'll be seeing much more projects from your bench. As Stephen suggested please do post a build thread here .
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

There is some very nice stuff there, Sir.
I like the Albatri in particular. Even the Nieuport that seems to have had an unfortunate encounter is well finished.
When you speak of varnish going off, I presume you mean a matte clear? These can leave a frosty effect if too thick, or thickly applied. I sweat each time I apply one. Did you paint over the color again, and leave the decals? I av had some luck fixing 'matte frost' by applying a thin gloss coat (more specifically, Future, the magic floor covering turned modeller's aid), and also with a bi of a rub down with a polishing pad (3000 grit, from an auto supply store).
I will often go over decals with various washes, to get them less stark. Black decals particularly will benefit from being gone over with a dark grey wash, and rubbed down a bit with the pad.

Excellent collection! I particularly like the Roalnd! The schemes you have chosen certainly present a colorful array. Seeing all of those Revelle and Airfix kits in 1/72nd certainly brings back fond memories! I am glad that you were inspired by Jorgs thread to post your work!

Thanks for showing these - I like the little Camel! To be honest I don't know how you guys work in 1/72.... it just seems so small my clumsy fingers and poor eyesight couldn't cope.
cheers

Yes, I repainted the wing, didn't know what to do to the decals. Now that I've had time to get over it a bit I'll give your suggestions a try, Cheers.
Again thanks for all the kind comments.

That's a wonderful collection you've got there, Ken. I particularly like Breadner's Camel, one of my favorite Camel schemes. The wood tones on you Albatros are very pleasing and as OM alluded to, many of us try very hard to achieve the toned down effect on the crosses which you apparently just lucked onto. Very nice.
Cheers,
Bud
