Academy 1/32 Camel
Well, this build was a right old pain – although it pushed me to do all sorts of things that a WNM would not. So that’s the silver lining for someone still learning the basics!
I’m happy with the results, given all the trials and tribulations I suffered, although there are a lot of warts on this. However, she looks pretty enough to the casual observer and I’ve built it for a friend who is not a harsh critic…..
It took forever to build and I still have another one on the bench… Lord, do I have the strength….. ?
Ps I’m really enjoying Suffolk Lad’s Camel build at the moment…..
Cheers
FF

I cannot see anything wrong with this at all - brilliant job, especially love your realistic looking wood effect.

A delight to look at, the wood effect is amazing, you have done an excellent job building this kit, the finished product would be a perfect gift for anyone. The warts you mention are not at all visible, I hope you continue on with your second kit.

The warts you speak of must all be subdermal, FF. She's absolutely stunning. Your attention to detail is remarkable.

Lovely work FF - like the others I think you've done a smashing job on the wood work and the overall 'picture' denotes a cracking job.
Love that little strut mounted pump - was that totally scratch built or part etch?
Nice to hear you are taking a peek at mine - if it finishes up looking as good as yours I shall be well pleased.
Congrats on a nice looking result all round

Spectacular Camel. Fine wood panels around the cockpit. And very colourful scheme - now who says PC10 is boring???
-
I like it a lot. Very well done - I seriously doubt a WNW Camel will look much better.

I agree with all that has been written. The wood effect is just wonderful, the overall finish superb. Warts? Where?
-
I have to echo the words above - such a well done model. The wood effects and subtle weathering are amazing. This is one of the most interesting Camel schemes I've seen. Thanks for posting.
Cheers,
Gary

Congratulations my friend she's one beautiful Camel. Impressive work from construction to decals.

thank you all for the kind words - I'm almost inspired to try and finish the second one! Need to finish a Snipe first
Suffolk Lad - its the Part PE, with the lump of (modified) plastic from the kit. And the wood effect is Ushi decals with pre- and post-shading. I think Bo nailed this to perfection - you will find it somewhere between pages 56 and 85 of the Albie V build log ;)
cheers

Thanks FF - I don't think I'll pursue the Part etch at this stage but try to scratch something. I did look at the Ushi decals at Telford but decided against them due to the need to cut and shape them carefully - however having seen your result I shall reconsider that for sure and will scroll back thru Bo's thread again.
Thanks again - Tug
