freudian slip? ;D

A couple really stunning DH2s, Paul and Des. I've studied both of these beauties for quite a while to prep me for building mine.
Cheers,
Bud

Wow two outstanding project in two scales of my favorite early British fighter.
Higest Regards,

Both magnificent, don't know what else I can say!!

Both great looking models!!! Thats got to be extra tricky in 1/48

Hello All,
Here's my very first scratch building project an Airco DH.2 in 1/48 scale for the last century.

Thanks for looking at this blast from the past. As always any and all comments are welcomed and much appreciated.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Gregory, this is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite of all of your fantastic models. I'm still too intimidated to build the excellent Eduard kit, I can't imagine scratching this kite.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Wow.
-
Bud,
Actually she's kind of crude by today's standards with clunky struts and details. But all and all not too bad for a first effort from many many years ago. I certainly wish I had all the reference materials I have now for the type back then. Thank you for your more than kind comments my old friend. Give that Eduard DH.2 a shot as I have no doubt you'll build one heck of a beautiful DH.2. They're not as intimidating as you'd think.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Nice scratchbuild GAJouette!
Not something I would dream of doing.
I'm too embarrassed to post my old models - kudos to you!
Carpo
-
Paul,
Thank you for generous kind comments my old friend. I've followed your projects for years now, so take it from an Old Dromer and fellow listee you have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. Please do bring over any old project you'd like after all your gallery at wwi-models.org is full of many outstanding builds. Again many thanks my old friend I very much appreciate your comments.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Greg,
I missed your contribution to this thread somehow after I commented on the first two builds. 1/48, a DH2, and scratch built, not only gutzy but pretty to behold. Not a project my skills would allow me to tackle, you did a marvellous job and despite her age, she's a timeless beauty! Nice Work! :)
Cheers,
Lance
-
Excellent scratch build of the DH.2 Gregory, you were a very brave man tackling this particular aeroplane for your first scratch build, it turned out beautiful, a real credit to your building skills.
Des.
-
That was your FIRST scratchbuild project Gregory??? Incredible! Both in regards to the subject you chose, and your execution. A mere mortal might have started out with something a little less challenging. I tip my hat to you.
Cheers,
Chris

This is my first WWI aircraft. It`s Smer`s Dh2 in 1:48. I had to scratch build the interior, the gun, I tried to upgrade the engine a little and added some details.

For your first WW1 aircraft model you did a superb job, a very difficult subject to take on, especially the rigging, but you have pulled it of beautifully.
Des.
-
Without a doubt, one of the best SMER builds I have seen - well done!
Carpo
-
Cheers mates. I`m thinking about changing wheels, engine and a prop in this model. The problem is I have no spare wheels I could use for this Airco.
-
Filip,
It's great to see a less than perfect kit turned out so well my the hands of an excellent modeler my friend. Like Paul (Carpo) say's she the finest Smer DH-2 I've seen. Bravo and well done.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

Fine DH2s here!
Now when my new WNW kit is just flying half around the globe to Poland, I think it is time to show my older DH2, Eduard;s 72nd scaler. This was build when I did not know about shading, weathering, etc. It looks a bit toyish, but still I am proud that I managed to complete it.

Nice hanger of beauties gent's.
PrzemoL, it might not be weathered/shaded , but it's still a nice looking bird.
It's interesting to see how you have progressed with your technique ;)
Andrew
-
Nothing toyish about it at all, Prez. Brilliant work on the rigging. Not at all easy in this scale.
Cheers,
Bud
-
You're being much too hard on yourself Prez. This is an exquisite model by any standard, and to think that it's 1/72 scale is absolutely incredible to me.
Cheers,
Chris
-
Prez,
As usual you earn a big WOW from me! Beautiful DH! Rigging and paintwork are superb :)
RAGIII
-
Przemek it`s an outstanding model. I guess rigging an Airco Dh2 in 72nd scale must be hard as hell. I`ve been thinking about re-rigging, putting a better engine and adding a wooden prop and finally changing wheels in my Airco... there`s another option - buying Eduard`s one.
Once again congrats mate!

Amazing, Antonio! In 1/48 scale, this kite is tiny. In 1/72, the nacelle must be the size of an aspirin. You did a fantastic job on the rigging. The thought of it gives me complete wind up.

Thank you Frank! There's actually very little paint on her; I used Aviattic CDL and PC.10 Fabric Decals top and bottom and also for the fabric portion of the fuselage nacelle.
