Just staking a marker to make me do it. It's my club annual Comp on 19 Nov, so I need a showstopper. I was perusing the stash, refs and the paucity of DH9s struck me. Not many DH9s get built. So I am going to do two!
One shall be the Lobster, the other a Silver Pheon scheme.
-
Excellent Dave, I really look forward to seeing these two come together.
Des.
-
Good on you, Dave, and will be spectacular, no doubt in my mind!
Cheers,
Lance
-
Outstanding! Good to see another Modeler doing a dual build. I will follow with interest as I own the Pheon Decals and the kit is on my short list of "Needed" kits.

by lobster do you mean a british scheme as in the brits are lobsters due to the redcoats? as i am sure you may know the colonist called the redcoats lobsters. or is there a dh-9 scheme called the lobster? maybe a red one? just wondering.
-
It's red all over with white zigzags.
-
Yes, the underestimated DH.9..! It's simply no Camel, nor a Fokker... Just ordered one; not sure, which scheme I like the most, so many there... Probably will do the Lobster; Hellenic Air Force scheme is very attractive, too... True, you don't see many built, I recently found one beautifully painted in the Hellenic colours on Michel Gruson's FB site.
-
I have 3. I'm toying between the CDL presentation Greek aircraft of Moraitiinis or the RAF Russian campaign one with the Blue Arrow down it.

Any colour you like, so long as it's red!

You have made a great start on this model Dave, it looks very impressive in red.
Des.
-
YESSS! Beautiful! Gimme more..
-
Great to see you building this model, DrDave. Or even two!
Indeed, not so many DH.9s are built. And I do not understand, why. It is a lovely aircraft, WNW have produced a fantastic kit. Out of my 12 completed WNWs, for me this one is ranking among top three.
And truly, that newly appeared Greek DH.9 in WNW website is very attractive.
-
Great work with the red, Dave. Lots of subtleties worked into the monochrome.
Wouldn't be hard to find this one in a fog.
Cheers from NYC,
Michael

Brilliant start, Dave! She'll be a stunner for sure!

Decals behaving so far. Not so the wing roundels over the aileron pulleys though.

Looking great with the decals applied, makes for a very stunning looking aeroplane.

I've been watching this one on FB and have been enjoying the build. The aircraft itself really didn't interest me until you started posting and the more I look at your WIP photos the more she's growing on.......time to head over to the Wingnut Wings home page!

Hello Dave!!!
Stunning camouflage on oddly beautiful aircraft!!! ;) As James above I also watched some pictures on fb so here Im and taking my hat off... gorgeus work!!! ;)

I've learned a few lessons with this one. I'm going to do another two. One afghan and one dutch. I'll do more WIP photos on them as there are a couple of quirks best avoided.

The Lobster is coming along wonderfully my old friend. The red looks perfect to my eyes.Awesome decal application too. Keeping the stripe straight must have been a real pain. Looking forward to following along this latest project. Keep up the excellence.

BTW, I see you use the WNW proposed method to align the wings. Me, I was always too scared to put a model like this. Luckily, WNW kits are designed so well, that from my experience the wings got aligned on their own.

I started off in my hands to get the cabane struts in, then the box for the wings.
