Here is another old scratch built model from my showcase
it dates back to April 1997 and it is the last WW1 models that I managed to complete before a long long hiatus
I started the fuselage as soon as I had in my hands the exceptional photo coverage and the 3-View drawing contained in Aerofan and later on borrowed from Windsocks. There was no SPIN resin model around, but the wings of an Eduard Fokker E III were a good basis - I modified the ribs and added a fuselage built from scratch (a box-like structure in plastic card, with some metal items like the louvres under the nose.
I completed the model in 1998; later on I applied some "what if" decals to the fuselage, since anyway I had modeled an armed version, which never went into production and probably the nose was yellow in the real one.
If you compare this model with the photos of the real aircraft shared by Bo, you will notice that this one had no alierons.
The photos of the original aircraft show no alierons, therefore I think that the wings of the preserved aircraft are not the original ones - probably they are pieces of Ca 3 wings used to restore the old monoplane.
I have also a pair of SPIN resin models, an 1/72 Ca 20 almost complete and a fuselage in 1/32 preserved in some box - it may be that I will complete one in the next months. The 1/32 one, likely before sir Peters issues one.

Never mind the dust, that is a simply beautiful model. You have hosted some very interesting types that I have never heard of - they are fascinating to say the least. It also shows how Italian engineers were coming up with similar solutions to problems at the same time as their other European counterparts. Thanks for putting these on the site - a chance to learn something new is always most welcome. And when it is via models of this standard it becomes a real pleasure.

Ermieo, THAT is beautiful!

Thank you for your kind comments, Dave, PrzemoL, Bud, Gregory, Bo, Ernie, LM and Pietro.
This is one of the models that I brought with me in my last move, so it must be one of my favorites, too :-)

It may be an oldie but it's a goodie Ermeio, you did a great job scratch building this model, it is quite a nice looking aeroplane.
