Title: WNW 1:32 Wingnut Wings Fokker E.I Early (LF.70 32/15 Naval prototype)
Post by: FarEast on August 15, 2015, 10:24:16 AM
Hey guys,

I'm new to ww1aircraftmodels.com and scale modeling in general, started September 2014 after purchasing a Wingnut Wings Sopwith Snipe (Late) at a whim as my wife hadn't spent enough to get free parking at the shopping mall we were at. After a botched but very enjoyable time building it I was hooked and started slowly building my stash up, after this was an Albatros DV.a (OAW) that keeps getting put on the back burner as I up my skill levels)

I recently finished my Fokker E.I and painted her in the much debated colours of LF.70 32/15 Naval prototype. I'm not a historian nor enter competitions but build because it's something I have found I love doing, so I hope you enjoy her.

Very nicely done James, the overall finish on this model is superb with excellent weathering, you have also done an excellent job with the rigging, I can see from this that we are in for a treat with your models.

Thank you Des, I really am standing on the shoulders of giants and many of the techniques and tricks I learned from the masters here!

I'm currently working on a dirty old AMC DH.2 (yep I'm a sucker for that rigging!) here is a sneak peak of what I was working on last night:

It sounds as if your have the same passion for rigging as I do, I find the rigging to be the most enjoyable part of my builds, the more rigging the better  :) :)
That is a great start with your DH.2, those Gaspatch turnbuckles are excellent. The rigging looks complicated but if you follow the rigging plan found on Bob's Buckles web site you will have no problems.

Rigging is almost complete - actually the model is almost complete.

I've actually come to the conclusion after spending hours pouring over archive photos of the DH.2 and also the Omaka Replica (The lines are a little odd on that bird) that when it comes to turnbuckles no two aircraft were the same - it drove me NUTS!

Stunning work on both models, James!  The scheme and the weathering on the Eindecker are topnotch and that DH2 looks fantastic.
Cheers,
Bud

Two great looking Models, James. I'm glad you decided to publish your stuff here, you have a lot to offer us all. I really like that combination turnbuckle "junction" with the Gaspatch components you've done for the DH.2, wish I had thought to do it that way! Brilliant!
Cheers,
Lance

James, I've also seen your DH.2 on Facebook and have been following your build. I'm building one too so I've studied your photos. Very nice work, and it's good to see you here on our forum!

Excellent EIndecker!
In my opinion this schema is the best  that one can find for the Fokker monoplane.

That is a terrific pair of models. If you only started a couple of years ago you are going great guns. I am really looking forward to seeing more of your work, especially the DH 2 when it is completed.
