Title: RAF Re.8 "Harry Tate" finnished.
Post by: DannyVM on August 10, 2015, 03:30:22 AM
Finally it's done : Royal Aircraft Factory Re.8 "Harry Tate". 52e Squadron. I still have to paint the two crewmembers and some groundwork, after i can called it completly done.

This was a very fun build, it's a tricky kit, but with some patience and good planning, all went very well. Still, i am surprised about the dimension of the Re.8, compared with the Roland, it's a huge model.

So while the two crewmembers are prepared for theire flight, and until i have the right base-plate for the groundwork, The Harry Tate will company the Roland and Spitfire.

Danny,
I like your Builds a lot; this one even more so! You've done a beautiful job on this, the details, the paint work and especially the weathered finish. If I can find a kit for less then the price of my Pickup Truck I'll use this as my inspiration and building guide. Just lovely work, congratulations on a spectacular result!
Cheers,
Lance

You have done a superb job with your Re.8 Danny, the overall finish on this model is excellent, the weathering is extremely well done, and you did a fantastic job with the somewhat complex rigging, congratulations on completing and displaying a very stunning looking model.

What can I add that has not already been written? This is a superb model - wonderful finish and very well weathered - not too much - just right. This really captures the features of the real machine - so much so that as has already been stated that this could be a restoration.

Really fine work, Danny. I like a realistic, grimy airplane that looks like those in the photos shot back in the day......to my eye, you have captured that feel.

Congratulations.

Cheers from NYC,
Michael
