Title: Pegasus 1:72 Armstrong-Whitworth FK8
Post by: IanB on July 07, 2012, 12:50:57 AM
I've finally finished my FK8 project after more months than I care to think about, and I must say I'm rather pleased with it. As I get back up to speed with modelling I will add more weathering etc and hopefully each one will improve a little!
I had some custom PE parts made by Peter Kormos (PKTinyworld) in Hungary - thanks go to him for those. Not too much involved in the set, but major "eye-catching" parts: the maker's name plates, Rotherham pump bracket and elevator control linkages. They are also be available from Freightdog as Colin has sets for his remaining kits.
Decals were custom made by a friend with an ALPS printer - thanks Charlie!

I hope you like her!

Lewis guns and Scarff ring are Mini-World (they are gorgeous, well worth the money!), the interior is entirely scratch built. Detail added includes Rotherham pump and fittings, tail skid brace, radiator plumbing and fittings, horizontal stabilizer struts, windscreen and Aldis sight. The kit prop was lengthened by 2mm each end and the wheels were replaced with Aeroclub items. I also read on another modelers site that he had an issue with the undercarriage strut templates being too short. This is not the case however, just be sure to fit the white metal rear undercarriage assembly with the top of the vee flush against the underside of the fuselage and everything fits nicely.

 Thanks for looking in,

Ian

Beautiful build, it doesn't look to be 1/72 but a larger scale model.

Very nice indeed! This looks to be a fairly large aeroplane, even in 1/72 scale. Would it approximate the size of a 1/32 scale fighter? Just wondering as when I see that amount of rigging in 1/72 scale, it gets me wondering just how big the model is.

Cheers,

Chris

An outstanding job Ian, you have produced a beautiful looking model, the overall finish is excellent and your rigging, done in such a small scale, is superb, very well done.

Des.

Chris, the model is about 5" (127mm) from nose to tail, a little over 7" wing span.
Thanks all! Many improvements to be made in future, the wings and tail surfaces should have been thinned for a start, and my painting can only get better (it's brush painted, but I now have an airbrush!)

Chris, the model is about 5" (127mm) from nose to tail, a little over 7" wing span.

Being such a diminutive size, the job you've done with the rigging is all that more impressive.

Cheers,

Chris

G'day, Ian.

1/72?  And another aircraft I hadn't heard of, as well.  WOW!  It's a beauty, very nice indeed.

Very impressive Ian, and more so for the detail in `Braille Scale. I`m always envious of folks who can produce a small scale project that, due to the detail, looks like a larger scale.
Well done!
Cheers,
Lance

1:72nd...  :o I wouldnt even dare start...... Congrats very clean build. (I like mine dirty... as anyone knows by builds will testify.  mainly cos they seem to turn out that way)

The rigging sure finishes her off nicely. Really well done.
