Title: Are these books any worth reading?

Hi!

I've read LEE's excellent "No parachute", but I'm wondering if his "Open cockpit" wouldn't be redundant reading...

Are Derek Robinson's novels of any interest?

"Hell on ballons" by Claudy about Frank Luke?

I'm a big fan of No Parachute, possibly my favorite personal account of the WWI aviation. I was gifted a copy of Open Cockpit, and I can honestly say I enjoyed it just as much. I wouldn't part with either copy.

I agree with Warren's comments regarding the Lee books. I haven't read any of Derek Robinson's novels, but I did watch the multi episode PBS airing of 'Piece of Cake' about 25 years ago and still consider it the best historical fiction TV programming I've seen to date.

I have all the Derek Robinson WWI books and enjoyed all of them. I've heard some dismiss them as inaccurate regarding the slang used etc but they're still great reads in my mind.

Another great read is Maurice Barings R F C head quarters, a first hand account written by Trenchards secretary.
