Here's 2 firsts… my first WNW build, and the first build I'm posting on this site. So go easy... :)
I found the WNW Fokker D.VIIF kit to be fantastic in terms of detail provided. The cockpit and interior was entertaining to put together, and I was thinking "This is the greatest model ever."

But…when I went to put it all together with the cowlings on, nothing fit well. Normally I use a lot of super-glue when building, but I think in this case it really messed up some tolerances. I ended up sanding down the outside of the framework, and I broke off a few bits that no one will notice :D to get the interior to fit, and even then I resorted to Tenax and aggressive clamping to get the cowl and nose panels on. But it is done!
I plan on using Aviattic lozenge for the wings, so am trying to pre-shade after painting the wings white and then some buff/linen. From those of you who have done this before, in my photos do I have the right amount of pre-shading and the right base color to a) have some shading show up and b) not adversely affect the lozenge color? Do I need to tone down, or darken?

Thanks in advance-

Exceptional work on the innards, Tom! A little late now, I reckon, but WNW tolerances are really tight and all paint needs to be removed from mating surfaces for everything to fit properly. As for the preshading, Aviattic lozenge is quite translucent, so a very light touch is required. Looks like yours is just about perfect. Looking forward to following along.
Cheers,
Bud

Hello gentlemen,
Beautiful work, a very good start !!
Best regards.

You have done an outstanding job so far Tom, looking forward to seeing more. I echo what Bud has said about the very close tolerances in the Wingnut kits, it is very important to remove every bit of paint from any mating surfaces that are being glued.

Very nice interior, Tom! I like your "wood effects" a lot. Despite
the tussles, the fuselage looks really good and I look forward to
the Aviattic lozenge in place. It is really great to work with. Well done!
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Tom,
Great to see you persevered with the fit of the cowling! It looks like your cowl panels fit quite nicely now! Nice save. Like Richard said I think your pre shading is in the ball park of where you want it. Any less and it won't be noticed and any darker will be too much.

Looks great, Tom; what a nice introduction! This is the kit I most recently finished, and it is a gem. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
Welcome to the forums,

Welcome to the group and what a great start on your Fokker! This was my first build, too . . . a good choice.

This may be your first build, but there's no need to go easy on you. It looks great! ;D You're definitely up for the task. The engine is very well done and the interior looks beautiful. I especially like the leather seat cushion. It looks like real leather!
