Title: Hello from Arkansas
Post by: TFDungan on May 16, 2015, 11:43:35 AM
Hello all!
First, thanks to Rick Giesler (RAGIII) for pointing me to this site after commenting on a post I made on another board. His actions that day saved a biplane from going into the bin… or least brought my blood pressure down a bit. But I digress…

I've been modeling off and on since my dad bought me a 1:72 A-7 Corsair II model in 1st grade which was painted using fingernail polish. I returned to modeling after getting married, at which point my wife (perhaps mistakenly for her, in retrospect) encouraged me to get back to it after finding some old builds in the attic. I mostly build 1:48 aircraft, mostly WW2, but also dabble in 1:32 scale, WW1, Cold War jets, and even a tank or two to my repertoire. Dr. Bill Funcke from WI encouraged me to try biplanes, and I'm glad I did. In recent years I've added quite a few more 1:32 WW1 kits to the stash. Credit to WNW for making them very, very interesting.

I'm not an accuracy nut, but it's OK by me if you are. I appreciate polite experts who don't overuse hyperbole. Those type of folks help me get better, and help me know what kits to avoid or how to correct them if I care to.

There's some great work done on this site! I look forward to learning from everyone here!

And just to get things rolling, here's my only 3 WW1 builds worth sharing...

Hi Tom and welcome to this wonderful forum. Your models look very good and for me capture key aspects of the period we love: the beautiful delicacy of the Nieuport, the ruggedness of the SPAD and the business-like elegance of the Roland.

Best wishes
Nigel
