Title: WNW Roland DVIb
Post by: ade on May 09, 2015, 09:08:56 PM
Well, having enjoyed the Eindecker build enormously, this arrived on Thursday.

Started some of the interior woodwork but yesterday and today concentrated on the fantastic engine while the oils were drying elsewhere.

Hoping to make a step forward in my skills with this baby. Decided to test myself with the scheme depicted on the box art.

Hallo Ade,
first of all I express my appreciation for the work done so far on your Roland, I will make a Fly kit : the D VIa of O.Kissenberth, I like very much the green tone you used (Interior green), which color did you use exactly?

Thanks

Antonio

Hi Antonio - I use Tamiya XF76 which is actuallt Imerial japanese naval Grey-Green ...but it's close to what we need.

I also applied a thin wash made from odourless thinners and oils.

I have just realised I have mixed up part A3 & A9 - oh well, not going to start chopping up the control column now...

Only I will know, and you guys here. And yes, I have fitted the control handle on the correct end of the column now..spotted that too.

 :-\

Edit - changed my mind...knife out, glue out, fixing my schoolboy errors..

Got a chance to do some work today before I head off with my band for a little trip.

Opinions on the shade of red I have chosen here - I know it's all a little speculative but this seems near..it is not as "pink" as it looks in this picture, it's more of a wine red.

Title: Re: WNW Roland DVIb
Post by: Ssasho0 on May 20, 2015, 06:25:07 PM
good work on the wood, I really like it!

regarding the red - it seems a bit too bright, you will have to weather and tone it down :) It is your model and if the colour is pleasing for your eyes, then it is completely fine!

Best reagrds,
Sasho

Yeah - it will be getting a coat of weathering  :D I will post another when it's toned down.

Also some work on the belts...

very very easy...

it's Alclad ALC-123 Exhaust Manifold - sprayed on. Then lightly dusted with Humbrol "Rust" weathering powder.

No black magic!!   :D
