Title: Aero engines 1910-1919
Post by: lone modeller on April 26, 2015, 07:03:41 AM
Evening All,
While doing a bit of research I cam across this site which has a number of photographs of different engines from many nations. If you want a good quality photo this may be helpful.

There is some very questionable material there though, so caveat emptor -- for instance the RAF4 image links to a Toyota RAV4 survey!

Yes, and some link to the "WW1 Modeling Page". Those photos
have been up on the net for quite some time.

RAF4, RAV4... Close enough! Some of those English biplanes used Toyota engines, right? ;D ;)

http://www.enginehistory.org/ (http://www.enginehistory.org/) has some very detailed information on historical engines.  I'm currently discussing with Randy Huff who has some CAD designs on that site about putting his CAD model Clerget on Shapeways (https://www.shapeways.com/search/tag?tag=Clerget (https://www.shapeways.com/search/tag?tag=Clerget)) in 1/16th scale (he already has it available in 1/9th  and 1/20th scales).

Randy also has CAD files he created for the Lawrence engines

and Mercedes DIIIa:

and Salmson M9

The designer seems to be quite amenable to putting his models on Shapeways.  If interested, contact Randy via [email protected]
