Title: Masks, in particular Pfalz masks
Post by: jknaus on April 08, 2015, 11:47:38 AM
Does anyone make 1/32 masks for the empanage trim as seen on Jasta 5 birds? In particular masks so you can paint the trim on a Pfalz D.IIIa?
I tried doing it with tape and had an epic fail. I am now trying decals and they are not the proper shade. I was going to try and make some with kabuki tape but am not feeling too confident.  Thanks in advance.
Jame

James,
A little bird is telling you that Bob von Buckle of Bob's Buckles fame built a wonderful set of masks for his DIIIa's inspection panels a year or so back for a very fair price. Since he's also a huge fan of the DIIIa I'd bet he'd be approachable..........
Cheers,
A von Buckle Enterprises supporter.

Hi James,
 I'm happy to help.

I will be away all next week on a much needed holiday/vacation, but will seek out the cutting file when I get home and do my best to get a set out to you before putting my feet up  ;)

Lance, as always, thanks for your support  ;)

Cheers,
BVB

Most welcome James! I knew "von Maskmaker" would come thru. BTW, I meant to say he made some superb masks for MY DIIIa, not his in the original post. ::)
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks Lance. If this helps here is where I sit right now.

Now if I can get out of making Russian Armour and if I can model relatively pain free for a while I would love to finish this old gal.

James, don't model Russian armor, that's a long, slippery slope.  ;) ;) ;)  Just don't.  ;)

Warren

PS: Love the Pflaz BTW.

Great looking Pfalz, James. The colours are striking, and I can see where a mask is bound to make that tail a lot better! I have the same problems with the "wrapover" on the PC10 Birds.
Cheers,
Lance

Hi James,
I just realized you need masks for the edging and not the inspection hatches.  ::)
Not made any masks for Jasta 5 piping  as yet and sad to say I have little time to dedicate to such a project - sorry  :(

I hope you can find a solution.

Cheers,

Bob

Not a problem Bob. Thanks for the offer though. I will figure something out. I think I may scan one of my other kits and then try and make a mask by hand or something
