As is most everything at Squadron these days.
I remember saving my allowance, yard mowing money, etc. and ordering something from them in '73, back when they had a store in Chicago, Detroit (I think), and Texas. Their catalog was a wonder to me at 12 years of age. I started buygin from them again in earnest in the 90's (Pegasus, Blue Max, and Eduard), and they were still a great mail order source then. Then the owner sold it to an investment group. It's been downhill ever since. Here of late, certain manufacturers won't even send them stock because they won't pay their bills, etc.
Sad to see a once great hobby shop sink to the depths. :'(

I stopped buying from Squadron after I ordered from them a Roden Dr.1 (on sale at $29.99) - They sent me two tiny HO scale german tanks and when I informed them about their mistake they refused to send me the Dr.1 because that sale had expired. The only solution they gave me was to keep the tanks and re-order the triplane at over $50. >:(

I can remember when their customer service was the absolute opposite of that. I can remember ordering from their monthly flyer a few days into the next month, and the lady on the phone giving me the previous month's sale price.
Good times, but long gone I'm afraid.

I have written to them on three occasions regarding their excessive mail charges for international orders, I never received a reply.

Des, their international mail fees were an issue over fifteen years ago. It's certainly not something that came with the new owners. They have never liked shipping overseas.
