Title: WNW Roland DVIa Kissenberth.
Post by: drdave on January 18, 2015, 10:18:01 PM
Harrumph!

I feel like the fat girl turning up in the same dress as the supermodel, next to Przemols exemplary Roland. Oh well, never mind.

Here's mine, using Gaspatch Guns and the Aviattic lozenge.

I think she's gorgeous, Dave.  Not the fat girl at all.  You should be proud of her, mate.  I think that this is a hard scheme to pull off and you've done it brilliantly.
Cheers,
Bud

Fat girl? I would be very proud of that if it were mine. That one is a winner and one to be truly proud of.

Oh, please Dave. Neither mine is a supermodel, nor yours is a fat girl. You have done a fine modelling on this one! Congratulations!

Well, you know what it's like. Once you build some, you look back 6 months and you see all these horrific flaws and wobbly wheels etc on your old fave builds......

Well done on the lozenge by the way. It worked flawlessly. Can we expect Pfalz 12 or Alby cookie cut sheets soon? Desperate to try them!

Hello Dave,

excellent model of Lt. Otto Kissenberth's Roland D VIa.

I spent some days in the 1970is with a close friend of Otto Kissenberth, the former Lt. Theodor Rumpel. Kissenberth was a very fine gentlemen.

It is perhaps of interest, that together with Winfried Bock I'm writing a book "Royal Bavarian Jagdstaffel 23". The book will be published by Aeronaut Books USA. The book will include around 230 photos of Jagdstaffel 23 and 62 colour profiles, mainly based on the testimony of former pilots and written documents.

This will be the second book after “Royal Prussian Jagdstaffel 30” already published in 2014.

Many greetings

Bruno

Cheers Bruno! I have read the jasta 30 book and did a hartmanns Witch DVII from it. I'll be doing the diagonally striped DVII with the Phon decals too!

Search for moi hexle, it's in the completed group build!

Hi Dave,

Nice one! If mine turns out half as good as that I'll be pleased.

I agree that the standard of a lot of the modelling on this site is very intimidating - it's something to aspire to but probably far, far beyond my capabilities. As long as it remains an enjoyable pastime with a degree of challenge and a 'learning curve' then it's OK. If it becomes self-flagellation because one cannot reach the lofty standards of not a few here then it's time to quit.

Cheers,

GrahamB

Still struggling with a WNW DH2 - it is one step forward-two steps back. Probably trying out different things (see comment above) and not being satisfied.

Hello Dave,

I would love to see a model of Lt. August Hartman’s Fokker D VII!

The diagonally striped Fokker D VII of Jasta 30 will be, among others in the chapter “Results of new research” in my Jasta 23 book. Unfortunately I got the beautiful Foto of the Fokker D VII line up when the book was already printed.

The colours of the diagonal stripes are an interpretation. They could be red/white or yellow/white.
Why red/white or yellow/white?
The pilots who could have flown this Fokker D VII comes from Frankfurt, Lübeck or Silesia. Frankfurt and Lübeck have white/red, Slesia white/yellow.
As the pilots in question were NCO, I choose for the colours of the home.
Because my experience ist, that Officers preferred their regimental colours, NCO locals from their geo-political background

Many greetings from Bavaria

Bruno

Dave, the Roland is just another of your brilliant
models that are definitely not the humble way
you portray them. Looking forward to more of
your jewels, my friend. :)

Cheers,
Ernie :)
