With the Hansa Brandenburg W 12 on hold. I got started on this one.

It's all closed up now. The wings have the base coat on. Tomorrow I hope to paint the fuselage and finish the wings, and tail.

Decaled the top of the wings. The wings aren't glued to the fuselage just pressed in to fly it around the room.

The left one has more weathering. It's been pre-shaded, post shaded, and highlighted. Not sure I like it, hence only doing one wing. The right one only has pre-shading. Might skip the post-shade and only highlight the middle.

Backside of the motor, just a test to see if I like the depth of wash. I don't. Seems to have too much of a blue hue to it. Not having much luck these days I've seemed to have gone sideways since Sunday on this one.

The rudder, and seat.
I've painted the rudder 3 shades of black. It looks like it has lots of overspray in the photo, but looks much better in person. Also included a better shot of the seat.

Well I went backwards all week on this. Stripped the wings to bare plastic. Started again, this time I wanted to paint the markings on, so made masks from the kit decals. The wings are all base coated in white, and will paint the tan colour tomorrow.
Also totally bailed on the metal squiggles on the cowl. Went with more of a hammered look. I don't care if it is right or not, this is the way I like it to look. Just like crooked numbers on a tank turret, it may be more correct, but it doesn't look right to me. I build just for me anyway.

Very nice introduction! Your Eindecker is coming along beautifully! Your turned Metal cowling and panels are quite nice!

It's your model so you paint it how ever you want, and what you have done so far is extremely well done, the wood in the first photo is excellent as is the cockpit interior is very nice, from my point of view I think the engine colour looks really good as is and the metal finish you have applied looks great, looking forward to seeing more progress on this build.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I've been asked about the hammered cowling, so like many of the successes I've had. This is yet another one that I backed into blind and just had it work out for the best.

This photo was my inspiration for the effect. It is a prop up for a book or letter, I can only assume it was from some typing pool somewhere. I've been using it to prop up my instructions while I build. You can see it just in use in the engine photos. So after I got disgusted with the job I was doing I pulled the instructions off the stand and noticed the stand and said that's the effect I'm looking for. So then I tried painting with my acrylic metallic paints on the stand. I wasn't making it look any worse but the texture was already underneath in the hammered effect so I was just applying paint over top. So then I transferred this effect to the cowl.
1. Basecoat gloss black
2. Alclad dark aluminum
3. Squiggles added as per WNW website using gunze acrylic silver with a brush.
4. Using a very coarse sponge and some finer sponges I sponged on various shades of metals like model master metalizers dark anodidic grey, titanium, gun metal etc, and some other alclad colours.
5. Then a heavy coat of future, actually too heavy and too shiny. I'll need to dial it back some.

Well I wasn't happy with anything other than the cockpit. So I stripped all the paint and decals. I've gotten things back to where I was a few weeks ago.
All the markings are painted on now too. There was just too much contrast between heavily stained fabric and pristine decal markings. Still have lots of work to do here.
