The next will be a conversation from the old Eduard kit to an early model.
It is the plane from Lt Joachim von Ziegesar Jasta 15.
Aditional come the engine from Karaya, decals from Aviattic and Pheon.

There are very great drawings in the Jack Harris book Siemens-Schuckert Aircraft of WW I.

Oh, this old box - a lot of Memories come back in my old brain...... ;D
I built this model about 15 years ago.
A lot of work is waiting for you, Martin 8)
I wish you much fun and keep an eye on this built ;)
-
Thank you for the comment Bertl.
I know about that Problems. I have also two new Eduard kits. They are for an late version and D IV conversation.
Martin
-
Great start, Martin! Looking forward to this one.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Good luck with the build, Martin. It will be a challenge as I found all those years ago, but with your modelling skills I look forward to seeing it progress.
Best wishes
Nigel
-
Thank you for watching my build Bud and Nigel.
Martin
-
Hello to all,
An old-timer box... It will be fun. ;)
Best regards.
Alain.
-
An oldie but a goodie, but you will have your work cut out for you building this kit, good luck and I look forward to following along.
Des.
-
Thank you Alain and Des.
Martin
-
Great start! I wish to similarly backdate the 1/32 Roden offering so this will be good to follow!
-
Thank you Petrov.
Martin
-
Nice start, Martin. I gave up on this one years ago, but it is is fun to build these old school machines once in a while!
Drew
-
Good start on a difficult kit. I have finished one and given up on one of these old timers. I can't wait to see how you do with this build.
-
Thank you Drew and Oldbie.
Martin
-
Will be following your build ;)
Terri
-
Good luck, Martin! I look forward to seeing your progress.
Chris

Another daring project Martin. Good luck to you. This will be nice to follow!

A Little update: the new rudder is ready.
Some changes to the fuselage: the air intake open, cool intake cut away, new structure inside beginning.
Martin

Nice start Martin!
RAGIII

I see you are not going to use the amazing handy dandy million and one fold PE interior. Good plan; I remember fighting that thing tooth and nail before finally getting it into the fuelage. I had been out of modelling for about fifteen years when I saw this kit in a store. I've always like the SSW D.III/IV because it looks like a beer keg with wings, so I bought it. Probably not the best kit to discover the joys of PE on. But I managed to get it built.
-
Thank you Rick and Jamieg.
Martin
-
Both body insides so far possibly finished and primed. New parts made and the first engine ventilation below open.
Etch parts become so far it goes substituted!

(http://abload.de/img/5oll9x.jpg) (http://abload.de/image.php?img=5oll9x.jpg)
-
Hm. I don't like the way you have opened up the first ventilation cover - it looks a bit brutal to me.
Stefan
-
Ok Stefan you are right, but I think there is no other way to open the Ventilation. At last it will be sanded.
Martin
-
The next parts finished, like flaps, tank and mg-belt box.
Also paints the first parts with plywood colour. I do not like the structure.

Hi Martin ,
Opening up the gills on the chin pan is not an easy task . I did my by thinning down the inside so the area was only 1mm in thickness . Calipers are for handy for this for measuring the thickness as you go . Digital ones are even better .
I opened them up using a scribing tool and finishing with a #11 . At this stage the plastic is very thing and easy damaged .
Terri
-
Thank you Terri.
Martin
-
You are going very fast again Martin. Good work !
Kind regards
Patrick
-
Looking good, Martin. Lots of difficulties but you are overcoming them!
Well done...Dan
-
Thank you for your compliments Patrick and Dan.
Martin
-
The next parts are made:
The leather upholstery, switches, holders fuel gauge, fuel pump and air supply to the carburetor.
Have made inside color corrections.

Martin,
This one really came together quickly and very nicely at the end. I really like your interpretation of the blue on the fuselage, I think it looks far more realistic then the darker shade on most illustrations. Nicely done!
Cheers,
Lance

Lance thank you for your positive comment.
I use the Gotha blue from Misterkit. I think it comes near the skin from Pheon Decals.
