While not French, I have lived in France for over ten years. This is indeed a sober time but I am much heartened by the spontaneous expressions of support across the country, indeed the world, of course for those who have died and their families, but also for the concepts of liberty and freedom of expression which are so precious here. The pen is indeed mightier than the sword.
Je suis Charlie.
Best wishes

I am living so near the French border and of course I am deeply hurt with what has happened yesterday. I am thinking of these poor people and their relatives. I can only hope that the people of France can stay serene, how difficult that may be.
For all the French people on the Forum, I am with you! Courage mes amis!
Kind regards
Patrick

Thanks for starting this thread Michael.
I've only ever visited France, and that was long ago, and far away. Over the years, I've met some mighty nice folks from there.
I don't think you have to be French, live in France, or even have visited the country to empathize and sympathize with them. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and with the French people. It has warmed my heart to see the outpouring of support from around the world.
Have courage and press on my friends!

je suis Charlie. I hope the French police catch the men who did this. They may have problems there are entire neibourhoods in France which are no-go areas for the French police. If they hide out in one they may be hard to find. From what I have read the French police are fairly good. Also from what I have read it looks like the killers knew what they were doing and may have got some weapons training ect. in Syria. They will probably go down fighting or commit suicide if cornered. If they have an escape plan thought out they may be on their way to Syria/Iraq right now where they will be impossible for the French to catch. I hope this is of some interest.

As I am not religious, I can not send any prayers, but in my thoughts I am with you and your families.
Hold on, dear friends, in the end the justice will prevail.

Although a bit late, I was stuck to the tv screen for days looking to the french news...
I am very close to each person who attended the huge meeting in place de la République, I love freedom and I cannot accept what has happened.
Je vous étreins trés fort, mes amis.

I'd like to also add my support to all the people of France. I have some incredible memories of cycling in many parts of that wonderful country.

Hi Rick
I joined the 30,000 who held a demonstration/procession of support in a cold, wet Limoges on the Saturday. It was an incredibly moving occasion.
Best wishes
