hi troops
here are the first plastic pieces
the kit is great but suffers from a small defect
the inside face is filled with molding pellet
especially in very hard to access places
(http://i39.servimg.com/u/f39/18/47/30/10/pastil10.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2024)
luckily they are raised
here are the tools that I used
abrasive sponges very practical
cuttable at will it's great to do this custom tools
(http://i39.servimg.com/u/f39/18/47/30/10/eponge12.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2033)
here between the structure
(http://i39.servimg.com/u/f39/18/47/30/10/eponge11.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2026)
to finish
the polisher on flexible base and easily resizing
(http://i39.servimg.com/u/f39/18/47/30/10/poliso11.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2028)

and here the thing is finally smooth

I've a feeling I'll be learning a lot from this build. It may even cost me a Gotha.
-
Very nice work eliminating the pin marks on the inside of the fuselage, they always seem to be in the most inappropriate places. I have one of these kits in my stash so I will be following this build very closely.
Des.
-
I have been thinking that for those pin marks that will be visible once the fuselage is closed and the "innards" installed, that are difficult to remove, I will cover with a thin sheet of styrene. Only a theory presently, but I'll be able to report more accurately on it once I begin my Gotha. Might be after the Felixstowe, which could conceivably push that into 2016...
-
thank you to you

This makes it easy pellets being raised
I feared that with styrene layer also will make an extra thickness

Very nice work. Will follow your build.

That is beautiful work my friend. Has the build been pretty straight forward so far, or have you encountered any problems? I have one of these beauties and was curious as to what you thought of the build so far?
Thanks and beautiful work,

I know, right? Truly a pity.
Warren
-
Good update.
Martin
-
Wow!
The interior looks beautiful, and as others have said, very true to life. This is quite an impressive build. Congratulations!
Chris
-
Great build!!! :) and what a shame that you will cover both engines...still love how the engine is in full details even though you wont see anything of it...it's like with all WNW cockpits :D
Cheerio
Lukas
-
thank you
and yes I know that you will throw me tomatoes
but I preferred keeps the line of the plane intact
was very soon for further
-
Jean-Luc,
It's a pity to hide the engines however I understand that you want to preserve he line of the aircraft. It's often the problem with a model. We would like to see all the details but the aircraft is more beautiful when everything is closed.
Jean-Luc (another one)
-
and yes I know that you will throw me tomatoes
Not throwing tomatoes!!! :) I'm sure that plane will not deserve such a thing... It is your plane and I believe it will look great in way you want it ;) and I agree that most of time planes look better with all covers on but with my builds I just need to have them open otherwise I would feel bad about myself(maybe bad ego???) doing "so much" work for something that my eyes can't see :D but that's my point of view.
Cheerio
Lukas

hi all
here is the following
the mats between the wings are in place
no particular Difficulty
I let the wing supperior up time that mats are fixed only on the lower wing could well dry
it could have be hell as stage but thanks to the precision WNW is a detail of construction

Your Gotha is Impressive with the wings in place! Great work on aligning all of those struts!! I am looking forward to the next phase of your build!
RAGIII

Great progress, Jean-Luc. The Gotha is really a massive, but magnificent
aeroplane and you are doing a wonderful job of the model. :D
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Wounderful work. I love your great.
Martin

This is looking really good Jeanluc. The precision engineering Wingnuts put into producing their kits certainly makes life easy for us modelers.
Des.

(http://i38.servimg.com/u/f38/18/47/30/10/foret10.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2079)

(http://i38.servimg.com/u/f38/18/47/30/10/112.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2080)
the wire is caught firmly in the clamp has clamping and the latter is locked

(http://i38.servimg.com/u/f38/18/47/30/10/312.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2083)
and here is almost done
(http://i38.servimg.com/u/f38/18/47/30/10/412.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/18473010/2084)

There is an easyer way to make them. :)
Ron
-
Have a look here Jeanluc http://www.ww1aircraftmodels.com/page47.html I make all my own eyelets and find this method extremely simple and fast.
Des.

find this method extremely simple and fast.
Yes. I have to agree. Des' method works much faster.

Des.

it is looking great, but isn't the rigging be a n issue, now when the wings are fixed? Just wondering, I'm sure that you wil execute it perfectly@
-
Great painting. Without the wings it doesn't look like an aircraft ;D
-
looking good jeanluc. Man that thing is big and I would be daunted by the rigging required. Looking forward to more.
-
thank you
the wings are not fixed
she serront after rigging ;) ;)

Hello Jean Luc:
I like the way this looking. I was never attracted to this scheme, but seeing your it is growing on me. The Olive drab engine covers are a nice contrast with the white and red. Looking forward to seeing what you use for rigging and how you do it.
