Title: WnW Rumpler "early"
Post by: MS406 on December 14, 2014, 03:48:22 AM
Hi gents! I post some pics of my WIP on the beautiful Rumpler CIV from Kiwiland! This is a large airplane and she requires a lot of planned schedule for the painting before the assembly. This is where I am so far, feel free to comment, best regards, jean.

You have done a superb job on the interior of this model, and the engine is excellent. The fuselage and wing coloring is very attractive, well done so far and I look forward to seeing more of this build.

Gents, many thanks for your encouraging comments! My next step will be the start of the weathering on the upper and lower wings because, once assembled the model is too large to be manipulated safely! Cheers to you all. :) :)

Thanks guys for the comments and welcome to the newbies, a sign of the good health of this forum!
Now back to business with the progresses I have done today: using patience and a lot of tape (1mm) I did hide all the ribs, upper and lower wings, then using a mixture of raw sienna and black of acrylic inks diluted at 80% I started to spray. I use more raw sienna for the undersides and more black for the upper sides. The pictures show you the process, before and after. Once again IMHO it is much better to do all you can do before the final assembly and some difficult places to reach then! Experience is one very good teacher. Now on the undercarriage and then the masts! Cheers and stay tuned.

She really looks nice! As one who is interested in this kit also, are the tolerances tight, making for some fit issues, or does it all go together well?

Cheers,

Chris

I was looking at a photo of the Aircraft in that scheme in Eiserne Kreuz und Balken Kreuz the other day and wondering if it was an option for the WNW kit. You have me thinking very hard about getting one of these! Beautiful work!!!

Hello to you all!
Work continues at a slow pace because I do what I usually do: fixing all the ringlets and turnbuckles to the upper wing, put the Ez-line in place to have only to fix it on the under wing when everything will be in place. The masts are now fixed in position using the upper wing as a guide and I have proceed to the rigging of the undercarriage as well. Then, once everything will be done, the upper wing will be glued in place. Thanks for watching, best regards, Jean :) :)

Many thanks for your comments. But let's see what today brings. After some dreadful hours spent with Ez line, Gaspach turnbuckles, super glue and harsh vocabulary, the Rumpler is finally rigged  :o :o! So it is now time to work on the details like the parabellum, the long exhaust, fixing the tail surfaces and rudder. She's nearly complete but not finished yet as I will do some light weathering underside before the matt varnish spray. Thank you for those who are following this built , they are of great help, and to answer a question, this model is really easy going and has a quite good tolerance compare to the early WnW models. Next post will be in finished models, take care, cheers, jean. :) :)
