Title: Salmson 2-A2 - 24th Aero Squadron USAS - 1/32 WnW Kit with Pheon Decals
Post by: Chris Johnson on December 07, 2014, 04:12:19 AM: Until recently, it would seem that the WnW Salmson 2-A2 kits haven't garnered much interest among modellers on the internet as there is a dearth of reviews and build logs to be seen. That is being rectified to a large degree with several other build logs currently ongoing on this forum. It's a real pity that the Salmson hasn't been more popular as this is an extremely well engineered kit, with only a few pitfalls along the way which I've covered in my build log at: http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=4164.240

Pheon decals have released several sheets of after-market decals in additional French, American, and Polish markings and these schemes provide us with even more colourful choices than those included in the kit. Rowan kindly donated the markings on my model, not once, but two times. The second set to rectify the mess I found myself in after carelessly ruining the initial top wing markings with a sloppy application of masking tape. Rowan and Sabine are truly passionate about this hobby and very forgiving too! Thanks ever so much for your generosity.

Definitely a stunner! The paint colors look like they belong together and that they have aged on the plane due to weather and use. Over all, I would say that this is one of your best ever.... if not, your best. However, I have faith that the next one will be even better...

In my estimation Des, this is the best WnW kit I've built yet as everything just seemed to fall into place for the most part. Maybe it's just that I'm improving with each aircraft I build, but I found this kit to be very well engineered. In particular, the four cabanes made fitting the upper wing an absolute breeze.
