Title: Roland D IV / Dr I
Post by: nmroberto on December 04, 2014, 06:59:57 AM
Does anyone make a kit of this AC?   I think it never actually went into service, but I like the looks of it.  Cool, in a wierd sort of way.

Definitely did not see service, but was a prototype of sorts for the Roland D.VI

don't know of any kit -- will have to check if the Herris book has drawings; you might be able to convert / scratch using a D.VI kit

No, the Herris book does not have drawings for this one. But it states that after a crash it was rebuilt using a D.VI fuselage.

I have only seen 3 pictures of it, and probably that is the only documentation available, but there are 3 view drawings here!

it is very cool i have drawings in a windsock worldwide and in the herris triplane book. i want to do a conversion from a blue max 1/48 kit one day. the nose/spinner is a bit diff from a stock d.vi so though thats the tricky part. from rudimentary researh i think i can graft a roland c.ii donated from an eduard kit nose onto the blue max fuselage and get it done that way. anyway cool looking plane.

Ah yes, I knew I saw drawings in one of my books somewhere...

That would be a great project, Scott, you should do it!

Do you remember which windsock  features the triplane drawing?
I have almost all of them, but dispersed among three homes :-(
