Well, here it is, my first aircraft, Revell´s reboxing of the Eduard Albatros D.V Weekend Edition in 1/48

No big deal, I am going to keep it "weekend" with all its known errors, add rigging self-made seat belts if I do no put Otto in it, my main goal is to finish it, with your help & criticism, whatever the final result is, and I do not want to mess around too much with aftermarkets or photo-etched (which I have never used before). I hope that this post inspires me to get busy with this and other buildings.
Nothing really worth showing until now, I got motor and cockpit in the fuselage without too much sweat, some putty and sanding. Of interest might be my attempt to imitate the wing ribs shadows following Des´s tutorial on "Pre shading the easy way", only I used a soft graphite pencil and I think they came out too thick. Not very successful, but I am nevertheless quite happy with this first try. I also applied a blue filter to the under surfaces of wings and tail, see the difference in hue between lower und upper wing.

Masking, camouflage und fuselage colours applied, chipped paint after removing the masking and will have to retouch here and there (I wonder if a gloss coat before masking would have helped? Any tips or experiences you could share?) and add some tonal variation to the upper wings. And this is how it looks like now on the Lego jig which I hope will help me get the wings and struts more or less aligned (I think the tail is already slightly out of place). And now I realize I still have to get rid of the reinforcement of the wing struts ...

An here comes my first doubt. It seems that most of you first align and glue wing and cabane struts on the lower wing and fuselage... Do you align and glue them all at the same time or first cabane, then wing struts or the other way around? I have been considering all possible combinations... Any thoughts or recommendations on this?
Thanks for watching!

Nice start on it and looks like you've made great progress without much trouble. I've only done 2 Eduard D.III's but had good luck by using regular plastic model glue and attaching the cabanes first. Alighn the top wing and then add the interplanes using super glue. Worked for me but others here have a lot more experience. I also found on the D.III's to mount the engine bearer to the port/left fuselage half. If mounted to the right half then I had interference with the right gun. Getting the tail level is a little fiddly too.

Hi Batulax. That's a lovely start you've made and it's interesting to see someone using Lego to support the frame etc. I've been looking out to buy some to do just the same but the cheapest bucket is pretty expensive. It looks like my best bet will be a car boot sale/vide grenier.
Best wishes

Your Albatros is looking superb! As for Albatros struts I may be one of the few who attack them a little differently. I attach the cabanes to the fuselage and make sure they align with the locating holes in the upper wing. Then I attach the Interplane Struts to the upper wing and let the struts dry with the wing supported. They hang straight down and (USUALLY) align perfectly. I then mount the wing and use liquid glue to fix in place.

@RAGIII, Jeff and Nigel, thank you very much for your comments, gentlemen, much appreciated! :)
@Nigel, best thing to do is to visit a Lego Store, where you can buy the pieces you may need loose. I have sent you a private message.
