Title: Special Hobby 1/32 Bristol M1c
Post by: drdave on December 01, 2014, 09:55:01 PM
A Great kit!
So frail I dare not touch it again, for as you can see, the wires pop off every time. Get one. Its a bargain.

Do yourselves a favour. Its only £30!

Nice build Dave,

I was just wondering how this was coming along. Spinner looks spot on, she's dirty but not overdone. I really like it mate. ;)

I simply love it. Ugly little bu@@er that it is ;)

Special hobby have really responded well to WNW, I wish Roden had shown the same attitude.
I see Hannants have sold out of the early version though.
Not too late for me for Xmas with some Aviattic Decals.

Ta for sharing
Keith

Dave,
 Cracking build! Love it!  ;)
What part of the model is fragile?

You have inspired me to get off my butt and have a go with the late version.

Cheers,
Bob Von Bristols

Great model, indeed. Congratulations, Dave!

As far as frailty is concerned, no wonder RFC had objections to accept a monoplane, it must have looked frail to their eyes in 1910s. But still, it is a pity they did not give it a chance, it might have brought a breakthrough at the Western Front in many aspects, earlier than SE5a and Camel.

No Bob but I would next time. The cockpit is sublime. Decals awful, grabby stretchy thin and translucent. These are spare Alleycat ones.

Dave, it looks real! ;D  The spinner is exceptional, with the chipping of the gloss red--looks like sheet metal!  Beautiful overall appearance.

Have you built the AlleyCat version?  If so, how does this compare?  Thanks.

Cheers & huzzas,

Bob

The moldings and interior are superior to the Alleycat kit. The Alleycat schemes and decals are superior though.

PI agree with all the others - a truly spectacular model wonderfully presented. That is a real WOW! model. Pity it is in the wrong scale! The spinner is something else again - it it really does look as though it is metal. Brilliant.

LM, there is one kit available in the true right scale:

I think I built that same or similar Czechmaster kit back in 1991 or so - I recall it coming in a bubble pack with no box or anything else, cast in dark green resin. Not a bad kit at all - their kits were way ahead of the times but super hard to get back then!

Just a super job Dave!  Funny little beggar, but you really
make it shine.  The effect on the spinner is gorgeous, by
the way.  Well done!

Cheers,
Ernie :)
