There are decals for these stripes, but I think it's the other way round. The cowling is red and spinner blue, as its SEAFIS.

A very nice resin wicker seat and PE fret with belts.

It's only 30 pounds on eBay! The detail is almost WNW, better than Roden.

I've bought two 1:48 Special Hobby kits (Boomerang and Wirraway) myself and was also pleased with the detail shown in these kits. Think I might have to include the Bristol in my stash as well now!  :)

Thanks Dave for showing us your new kit, it certainly looks to be an impressive kit with very good moulded details, the seat especially looks excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing your build of this model.

Des.

I think the cost has been kept low because the part count is very low. There is also not much resin included for a Special Hobby kit. That big spinner will hide almost all of the engine, the cockpit of early single seaters are always a bit bare, so it's great that they have managed to use that to their advantage to keep the cost to £30.

Lovely big decal sheets - with Aviattics fabric decals due out soon, you could complete this model with a minimum of painting.

You can tell it's a short run kit as the moulding is just a little bit rough around the edges, the machine gun in particular needing a bit of work. But that's really no problem at all. The wings are solid plastic with a couple of sink marks, the fuselage is very good with plenty of excellent detail. The wheels show good fabric detail over the spokes, although mine has a little scratching that needs attention - danger of sticking all the parts in a single bag.

The cockpit seems very well detailed, with decals for instrument faces. The engine takes up most of a sprue, which is a shame as you will not see it once the spinner is on, except for a small area at the bottom of the cowling which is open. Must be tempting to leave the cowling off as part of a dio?

There are PE turnbuckles and wiring points supplied, which is interesting, as well as some PE horns for the control wires on the ailerons.

The rigging diagrams are very good, instructions are clear & in colour, which is useful.

I'll certainly be doing the chequered version on the box lid, using Aviattics fabric lozenge.

This one looks very tempting. A few things higher on my priority list but most likely I will pick one up. Thanks for all of the info!

The M1c looks like a winner, Dave. It will be a very interesting
build.  Thanks for bringing it to our attention. :)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

why would you use AVIATICS fabric lozenge? is that a typo? ???

Good news Richard!

I don't mind the wait, as it just means that you've taken time to make sure they are utterly bloody superb.

Will they be ready for Telford? You may sell a couple....

Hi Guys,

Just finished our review of the SH Bristols and on balance, I consider  these are their best yet. They have certainly been taking a good look at how WNW tackle things.

I, too, would like to see a 1-32 Brandenburg C.I-but which version? So many to choose from! :D

Cheers,

Ray R.

The decals are very very thin and stretchy. I am full of foreboding at the thought of fitting the large checker sheets. The engine is a bit soft, but hardly visible anyway. The cockpit is superb, but again is hardly visible once closed. There's no instructions on mounting some the cockpit controls in mine.

On balance, so far 10 for effort, 9 for achievement. It's a step change from special hobby.

Oh dear, as feared the decals are too thin and the chequers would not move then ripped when placed. I've had to abandon that scheme, which is a pain as the wings were already painted and decalled. Be warned.

Sorry to hear of the decal issues Dave, it is a shame considering the kit itself appears to be very good, looking forward to seeing the build of this kit.

Would you like me to move this topic into the "under construction" board.

Des.

Dont worry Des, I was just warning about the decals. I hope to get her done using some spare Alleycat decals this week, then Ill post  a completion thread.

I just ordered one of these from Squadron (a Black Friday special.)  Really looking forward to seeing Mr. UPS show up at my door with it.  A lot of nice marking options.  I plan to stay away from the "checkerboard."  I hope using another scheme solves the decal issue.

I've nearly finished mine, but had to use spare Alleycat decals in the end. Some was my fault, but they are very grabby decals
