Title: Halberstadt CL.IV 1:48 from Karaya
Post by: KrzysiekK on June 01, 2012, 04:09:21 AM
Hello again,

I would like to present my newest release and the hardest one to build as well ;D
Halberstadt CL.IV by Karaya as the replica of plane enrolled in polish 14 Eskadra Wywiadowcza with no. 525/18.
Since the beginning I have decided to use just the decals and exclude the painting wherever it was possible. This decision made my work really tedious and endless. Thus I became so stubborn that finally finish all project within 4 months, which costed me a pain in the neck :P
The woodgrain was made from the Uschi decals and lozenge out of MicroSculpt ones so high quality guaranteed the success..in theory at least.

enjoy

Good job, congratulations!

What quality of the Karaya kits? Never had to deal with this producer.

I look to this kit - 48005 DFW  C.V early (http://www.models.karaya.pl/eng/dfwCVearly_05.html) with Ukrainian markings "For freedom of Ukraine!".

Very nice indeed, love the sepia toned photos, very nostalgic.

Cheers

She's absolutely beautiful, K.  You've done an outstanding job all around.
Cheers,
Bud

Eudgen, Karaya makes the beat resin kits I've ever seen.  That DFW kit you're looking at is one of the best in any medium.  I have built 3 Karaya kits and that one is next.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks a lot!

Still my neck is in pain…have to ask my wife for massage  ;D
This is plastic kit and I can not say anything inadequate about the product. It is highly detailed in compliance with Windsock Datafile and supported by well designed PE part.
The only disadvantage is the lack of lozenge and photo based manual, which causes some trouble during assemble.

Krzysiek, a very nice model! Wood and lozenge do look great!

PS. When I was doing my 72nd scale Halbie I also thought about this aircraft. But I had doubts concerning the fuselage colours. Late Dan-San Abbot in his book Schlachtflieger wrote, that all Cl.IV had painted lozenge polygons on the fuselage. If it was so, I could not understand how possibly 525/18 could have bare plywood fuselage! That is why i opted for a different scheme.

this is the first time ive seen a karaya halberstadt cliv built up. you did an excellent job.

@ eudgen i have 4 karaya kits, the halberstadt, the ansaldo balilla, the aviatik dii and the dfw cv. i think karaya has the best resin castings i have ever seen. the detail that radek manages to capture in resin is incredible. also most resin kits dont have locator pins but karaya does. it makes it as fool proof as a resin kit can be. the only complaint i have on all the kits is it seems like my version of the dfw(first production batch) has some issues. i think this one was released later and although it has a different fuselage(one without the spinner) they seem to have just included the other parts from other kits. so some parts do not work. for instance the pe control panel is notched for a spandau, but the fuselage isnt so its the wrong control panel for this version. also the upper engine cover/cowl wont fit and the engine doesnt fit as well as the water tank for the top of the engine. i think they wanted to release another version so did a new fuselage then just gave you the same parts as the earlier releases. so get one of the realeases with a spinner/spandau not the (first production batch)unless you want to make things work/fit.

Wonderful workmanship!  I bought their DH-5 and as everyone has stated their models are outstanding.  I hope we see the Martinsyde Elephant one of these days in their line.
