A very proud moment for me happened at 9.20pm on 03 October 2014, my website registered 500000 hits, I would never have dreamt that my little website would, in a reasonably short time, have half a million hits. :) :) :)

Congratulations on this achievment Des, and while not anticipate, this halfmillion mark is reached so fast because of the great amount and excellent quality of very usefull information, that you compiled in very user-friendly way!
I know it as I used it not once or twice and will be using it again and again in the future.
Best reagrds,
Sasho

Here's looking forward to the million mark! Well done, my friend! :D

What an achievement! Congratulations Des. Ernie is absolutely spot on when he comments on your hard work and vision. These things don't happen by chance.
Best wishes

Congrats, Des. As stated above, it's not by chance, you earned it!

Brace yourself Des; the way your "brainchild" is maturing the one million bench mark is closer then you think! Wonderful place to learn and share and you created it, well done and thanks! :)

I have visited, and abandoned many modeling sites over the years. I once was a forum moderator for one with over 10,000 registered members. Few are able to sustain a large and regular number of active contributors but this one is an exception in my opinion. I was at first an occasional visitor, then discovered that although some of the methods you chronicled here regarding modeling techniques and tools are the same or similar to those I had discovered, many were new, well presented and in the spirit of sharing. Your build logs are entertaining and informative with excellent photography but without patronizing opinion. I continue to enjoy and participate in the forum which is without rancor, meanness and spite. Lovely, that.
I seldom visit the sites and forums I once haunted, preferring this one instead.
I think all this is due to the attitude and spirit you have maintained and I wish you continued success.

Congratulations Des and a huge thank you.
I have had access to information ,specialist techniques and after- market items that I would have struggled to find anywhere else.
The models being constructed here have certainly been a continual source of inspiration and I have " raised my game".
Keep up the great work. :)

Congratulations, Des. That is so awesome. But then again, this is a first class site and the best modeling site I have ever seen or been on. In fact, its the only site I will go on. I have yet to build a World War I model, a bit scared to tell the truth, but I have learned so much already from your site and all the guys and girls here.
I for one would like to thank you for a wonderful site and I hope 1,000,000 hits won't be far off.

Congratulations Des. I came across this site quite by chance and was a bit intimidated at first by the sheer quality of the builds here, as I thought that mine were a bit amateurish by comparison. The very warm welcome, continued support, very positive and helpful comments, advice, tips etc. all combine to make this the best site on the web. There is so much to learn and this is the place to come for those who wish to - in a friendly, constructive and supportive atmosphere. When you write that you accept any standard of model on this site we know that you mean it.
Looking forward to the next half-million and then more……..

Congratulations, Des! You've built one of the most beautifully constructed sites on the web, attractive, packed with useful information and easily navigable. I use it regularly for reference.
Cheers,

I think this is the WW1 aviation modelling website of choice. I know that the advice, good nature of the members and lack of rivet counters has helped me decide to move exclusively to 1/32 WWI modelling.
-
Congratulations and thanks to all users who caused that this site is so interesting :)

Wow!
The credit is all done to you, Des.

Thanks Des for all the time and effort you put in to make this site the best place to hang out.
And to everyone else who makes it a community effort by participating

Congrats and well deserved. This is one of the best sites I have belonged to and the best WWI site I have joined. Friendly, informative, and supportive.

Congrats Des,
As the others have said your site is easy to navigate, full of info, and is absolutely the best WW1 site bar none !

Congrats!

Many congratulations Des, for this unbelievable number of hits. I agree totally with Ernie, that it is thanks to your hard work and vision you achieved this. I wonder how many people got interested in WW1 aircrafts thanks to you. I am sure that your build logs inspired many people to run to the modeling shops. This is a great performance Des. You will double the number in no time!
Kind regards

I've participated to some degree or other on various internet forums covering a fairly wide range of subjects including other modelling related ones. The notable points of this website & forum for me are:
Very useful & inspiring information & build logs on the Internet page.
The format of the forum is clear & simple - on some forums it's difficult to find the threads & postings sandwiched between adverts & frankly rubbish.
The content on the forum - thanks to Des & the members - is packed with valuable builds, tips, photos & above all inspiration.
The icing on the cake though is the lack of sniping & unfriendly behaviour which is a plague afflicting so many forums. 'Handbags at dawn' due to a disagreement over some tiny detail gets very boring & is a reason to avoid some forums (even one or two other WW1 related) ;)
The above is due to the way Des runs his ship, the effort he's put in & of course to the members - my thanks to all concerned.
Regards

Congratulations Des! You have a great site. I don't post many times, but I'm on here every day and get a LOT of inspiration and help. If I had a way of photographing my work I would probably post regularly. A great amount of expertise and willingness to share among the forum members here also. Your site first peaked my interest in WWI subjects, as was stated likewise earlier. 1,000,000 will probably appear faster than the 500,000!! Keep up the GREAT work!

Congratulations, Des. Thanks for creating and maintaining a site that is so nice to visit. A big thank you, also to all the members who make it such a useful place to come to. Friendly advice, constructive criticism, no back biting and pointless bickering, this site has all of the good things we want and none of the bad.
-
Congratulations Des, a very noteworthy milestone :)
Thank's from me also for creating and maintaining this great site!!

Congratulations Des! Your site is unlike so many others that have come and gone. You have brought so many talented and very giving individuals together in one location that no other site can do. So pat yourself on the back. It's well deserved.

No surprise, this is without a doubt the best modeling forum of any kind I've found. Tons of useful tips and information, and very friendly and helpful members.
-
I can only echo on what the others have said so far Des , Congrats !
One can really come here and have a relaxing experience where they feel they are at home . No matter what their skill set is , we all share and learn and grow as community ;D

Thanks very much to all those who have left very warm comments, you have all touched me deeply knowing that from very humble beginnings the site has evolved into one of the best and fastest growing WW1 aviation sites on the net, and this is all due to the outstanding member base. Thank you all for making my dream come true and for sharing your wonderful friendship amongst fellow WW1 aviation modelers, I have met some exceptional people through my website and forum and have formed life long friendships, may our little corner of the modeling world prosper.
Des. A very happy and proud administrator. :) :) :)

Hi Des,
I did not want to comment on this thread before as with my few posts I have only insignificant contribution to the success of your forum.
Just want to confirm your words, this is a great platform with very skilled members and I highly appreciate the friendly environment here.
So, to sum it up, great job, folks!
Cheers.
