This short article was written specially for Popular Flying magazine by Carl-August von Schoenebeck of Jasta 11 and published in the February 1934 edition

Thanks as ever James.

The most striking image for me is that of the Allied airman being led away by two German infantryman after he has come down behind enemy lines, perhaps brought down by Ritter Eduard Von Schleich. Etched on his face are the traumas he has just been through. It's very moving and such a contrast with the familiar image which precedes it and shows a relaxed, smiling airman in Richthofen's company.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the writer takes the then orthodoxy that Brown brought Richthofen down.

Best wishes
Nigel
