I'm Stuart Milliken, a flaccid and aging modeling enthusiast living in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southern China. For a living I do language research, script development and lexicography, and for relaxation I build "little toy plastic airplanes," to the puzzled bemusement of local friends.
I began modeling at age 6, and among my favorites were the Aurora WWI kits. Like many, I dropped out of modeling when I went away to college, but finally picked it up again around the year 2000. I imagined then that I would leap back into WWI modeling, but was promptly and soundly defeated by the Edward 1/48 Nieuport 16. Since then I've been gradually learning how to do things, building mainly inexpensive 1/72 kits, although I've shied away from Great War subjects. A WWI group build currently going on over on HyperScale finally got me to try again, and in that context a fellow-modeler recommended that I join this site.
I hope to learn a lot here, share a bit, and enjoy the company of other WWI modelers. Thanks!
Stuart

Welcome to the forum, Stuart. Great to have you aboard. You've found the world's foremost site for WWI modeling so I feel certain that answers to any questions you may have or help you may need with any modeling concerns will be found here. Who knows. You may even start a WWI modeling movement in China. Wouldn't that be cool.
Cheers,
Bud

Hi Ian,
Go to http://www.hyperscale.com/
Then click on the link "Discussion Forum" under the banner at the top of the page.
When the next page opens, click on the link "Group Build 1/72 Aircraft" in the sidebar on the left.
That takes you to the 1/72 page, where the WWI GB resides. Look for topic headings with "WWIGB" in them.
Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome, I'm sure you are gonna like it here. Great helpful people.
I found the site by accident one day and after looking at the galleries I decided that I might like to try building a WWI aircraft. I enjoyed the build immensely although the model ended up looking like crap. After reading all the hints, tips and build logs, my builds are getting a little better. (although I get a tiny bit discouraged looking at some of the masters builds)
