Hi,
I have now made a start on my second build, which is a WNW Roland D.VIb, Jasta 59 mid to late 1918
(http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz251/davidtmartin1/Roland%20DV1a/066a7834-1cc5-4003-8bf9-552a6518ce81_zps59b2e41f.jpg) (http://s833.photobucket.com/user/davidtmartin1/media/Roland%20DV1a/066a7834-1cc5-4003-8bf9-552a6518ce81_zps59b2e41f.jpg.html)
I have made a start on the cockpit interior, for the Green i have used Tamiya Interior Grey Green XF76, and for the wood i used, for the base colours i used Vallejo Old wood, weathered wood, lightened down a bit, this was poilshed with a soft cloth, and a satin varnish applied, then after a couple of days i used Rowney Daler oils, one that was fully dry i over sprayed with a very diluted coats of Hobby colour Clear orange.

I love the wood tones! Very nice start!

You are off to a great start Dave, the wood colours are excellent.

Have fun, the kit is really great (at least the Roland DVIa is) and I enjoyed every moment of the build. Don't forget te glue open overnight around the kit as you may find it assembled on the morning!
The best advice I can give - get the Aviattic Lozenge decals, they are immense improvement over the WnW stock decals.
Best regards,
Sasho

Off to a great start so far , nothing wrong with your wood . Very nicely done !

Hi everybody
Ive not been around for a while, due to an unexpected illness, that put me in hospital for a while, but it did give me the time to practice my wood effects so ive uploaded some pics of the cockpit interior, the seat has still to go in, The engine, just needs some weathering.

Sorry to hear that you were ill and in hospital, hope all is well now. Your Roland is looking excellent, the cockpit interior and the engine are very well done, looking forward to seeing more of this build.
Des.

Well, the wood effects and engine both look terrific, but more importantly, I hope you are feeling better.

I'm so sorry to hear that you were hospitalised. So, it's a big get completely well soon from our part of France. The Roland certainly is a very attractive piece of work being developed in your skilled hands.
Best wishes

Hi everyone finally, back on my feet... anyway decided to change the build to the Roland D.VIb 7504/18 (http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz251/davidtmartin1/Roland%20DV1a/ac873fd40126fbe96358ba4c1156b7aa_zpsfdff2658.jpg) (http://s833.photobucket.com/user/davidtmartin1/media/Roland%20DV1a/ac873fd40126fbe96358ba4c1156b7aa_zpsfdff2658.jpg.html)
So far the build has gone ok, however I did have to remove the paint from the fuselage, on the first attempt, as I did not lay-down an undercoat, and the paints did not look vibrant,

Have a merry Christmas and a Happy new Year, where ever you may be.....Dave

I missed your earlier reports. It seems we are quite a party here building D.VIs! Yours is progressing very nicely. Fine colourful scheme!
I am sorry, I cannot help you with Gaspatch turnbuckles, up till now I have been using Bob's buckles.
And Merry Christmas, too!
-
It looks though you are progressing well! Your lozenge application looks great and the scheme is very colorful! I also am of no help with the buckles but I am sure someone will chime in with the answer soon.

I built mine using the 1:32 turnbuckles and it looks juvt fine. If you have1:32 buckles, I don't see a reason not to use them!
Bellow I'm posting few pictureV that may or may not help you decide.

Hi Ssasho0, as always many thanks for your advise, and the pictures
-
Excellent progress on your build Dave, the colours are very eye catching.
GasPatch turnbuckles are an excellent product but can be expensive if you need a lot of them, Bob's Buckles cut tubes and eyelets are a good altenative and easy to assemble, or like me, you could make your own.
Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.
Des.

I would also recommend radub brinzens turnbuckles. Cheap and look the part.

Hello to all,
Beautiful work and painting.
Best regards.
Alain.
