Kurt von Crailsheim served in the infantry until he was wounded in August 1914. After recovering he was considered unfit for front line service and transferred to aviation in December 1914. In June 1915 he joined FFA 53 where he initially flew two-seaters before converting to single seaters later in the year. Flying an unidentified Fokker, he shot down a French voisin on 22 September for the units 1st Eindecker victory. He was flying this same Fokker on 2 October when the engine failed and the resulting crash wrote off the only Eindecker FAA 53 had been assigned. An indication of how sought after Fokker Eindeckers were at the time is that it took 8 days for its replacement, the 100hp Fokker E.II 69/15, to arrive at FAA 53. On 30 December Kurt heavily crashed an unidentified Fokker (which some speculate could have been 69/15) and would succumb to his injuries 5 days later. In any case, at some time E.II 69/15 was sent back to Fokker for repair and by this stage the fuselage featured a dark 'streaky' finish and left the factor again on 22 February, 1916.
Take from the WNW instructions. I was going to do the Udet a/c., but as I was also going to do Immelman's and Richthofen's, which are both in the dark streaky finish, I decided to opt for Kurt von Crailsheim's in the Fokker Beige scheme.

P.S. Where's the snow? ;D

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and following along on the build log. Wind screen added, just need to post a few pics of the 'finished' product. The snow finally melted Chris, but won't be long and it will be back!
Again, many thanks to all of you.

You certainly made quick work of this one, Mark, but your final results suggest a build of longer duration. Marvelous!

thumbs up Mark, the cowling swirls are really effective especially.

A very fine model all around, Mark. Congratulations!

Wow!! That is a model to be proud of - a prize winner if ever I saw one. I just wish that I had the skill to be able to achieve the finish that some of you produce. Very many congratulates on an excellent build.

Hello, Mark -
Your completed Eindecker looks really great!
Your effect on the metal cowling looks especially good too. What next on your bench mate?

Greetings folks:
@ Dave: Thanks Dave, appreciate the comments. Next up, hmmmm a toss up between the Biff or the Salmson. I got the decals from Rowan today, but; the Biff Beckons. I even have it on the bench with the box top off. Stay tuned. ;)
@ SsashoO: Glad you like it, thanks for being aboard and the comments, much appreciated.
@ LM: Appreciate you stopping by and your kind words. You can do it. If I can do it, anyone can. That's my approach. It just takes a little practice and then you make the jump.
@ Bo: Thanks Bo, appreciate the thumbs up, your comments and stopping by to check it.
@ Vickers: You are correct, I took pictures as I built it and when almost done, posted them. That way I could focus more on the build. I know that the undercarriage rigging is a bit arcane and hopefully my log will help those in the throes of the Eindeckers with the rigging and encourage those who are on the cusp to take the plunge. It is an enjoyable build and there are some great build logs on this forum with loads of helpful hints.
