Quick Question.........picking the collective Modeler "Brainpool":
I am considering traveling (by Vehicle) to a Regional Model Show/competition next weekend and possibly entering one or two of my builds. Anyone out there have any experience in this regard ie. what method provides the least chance of damage in transit? I'm thinking in terms of a box with foam rubber lining and perhaps supports of the same stuff to hold the beasts in place however thought there would be a few or more members who do competitions and might have some good recommendations. I should have asked this question much earlier, only 6 days to go at this point.
Any and all suggestions most welcome and appreciated.

Polystyrene blocks or tiles, put the kit on it, secure with cocktail sticks. Then put in a box :)

When I travel with my model the 1/48 th scale items are first placed in a large size zip lock freezer bag. The idea here is that if anything should break loose it stays right there and loose in the bottom of the box.The bagged project is the packed into a shallow tote with packing peanuts above and below. The large stuff is packed pretty much the same except I use a medium size trashbag instead of thr freezer bag. Some of the largest models (WW II) are secured to form blocks via ribbons and t-pins inside of a shallow toto container then finally covered in packing peanuts.

I find an appropriate size box and use the thin plastic bags used at the dry cleaners. Bunched up a bit they seem to cling just a bit with out getting static charge. Then I drape one over the top of the model. It keeps the model stable and set in the box. Ron Lowry used this all the time and he transported some BIG models (1/24 Bellanca Aircruiser,262,F105 etc)

Thanks much you Guys! Several great ideas, all of which if used in whole or combination should work just fine. Think I'm off to the races.........and the Regional. (but keep those ideas coming)

This is a new experience for me; only been to one Show ever. I was in Victoria BC and happened to notice a sign on the roadside announcing an IPMS Annual, got there with only an hour left to view. Looking forward to the experience and will take my camera just in case.
