Well my Fokker D.VII is just about done and I will post pictures soon. I need a bit of a breather from them though and have started a Fokker E.IV for a break. Eventually in the next few weeks I will combine and do a dual build with my Fokker DVII in the group build. In the meantime here is the one I am starting and the scheme I am planning to do.

I have an Engine coming from Taurus that I hope I can build as well as this one:

some muzzles by Taurus"

A cowling from Aviattic"

And if it is out in time the new Aviattic CDL decals.
And of course Master Barrel guns, Her Von Buckles itsy bitsy loops, and Gas Patch turn buckles.

Wow James, you are a modelling maniac! Great production rate you've got going here and outstanding quality. 8) I'll be very interested in how you do on the Taurus engine; quite a project in itself I suspect.
Cheers,
Lance

Hello James:
I just received my EIV from WNW. I will be watching you progress through this build. Should be fun!! I will be interested in your comments on the aftermarket goodies as well.

Well dont know about a modeling maniac as it takes me so long to build now adays, but I need to glue stuff together so its best to feed the need :) .
Mark, for sure I will let you know. I love the Taurus stuff and I am sure the engine will exceed my expectations and skill level. I'm really keen on trying the CDL decals if they come out in time. That should be cool.

Good choice of subject James, The Taurus engine will be a challenge on it own but I'm sure that you will master it in no time, and all the other goodies will make it a super model.

Nice collection of loot for this build , looking forward on your progress 8)

Well made a start. Wood started and aluminum skin painted. Next up is figuring out how to do the engine worked marks on the aluminum. Have a few ideas to try.

Fuel tank painted and frame painted. Next is detailing the cockpit up some. I didnt sand off the rigging on the forward floor. I dont think it will be noticed.

James a nice beginning.

Really nice start! I am always amazed at the methods modelers come up with for the swirls. I am looking forward to your solution!

Hello James:
Progress is being made and that is important. I have buttoned up the fuselage on my EIII and you are correct, the rigging on that forward panel is barely noticeable. I tried to figure out how to put those PE panels in but left them off as I was at a loss. I just got this kit from WNW along with the Walfisch and I think the EIV is my next project. I am beginning to take a shine to the E series. For the metal swirls I followed the WNW instructions on line except I used plain old Testors silver. I practiced on areas that weren't noticeable like the engine support and the inside of the 'cheek' panels and went to town. Turned out alright I think. You are coming along nicely on this and I will be scoping it out as you progress and update.

Thanks guys. Mark I will study your bird and see what I have to do. Rag III I tried the WNW method, and the one I ended up with right now is Aluminum paint and a silver Sharpie. Okay I cant seem to get a good shot of the metal work I have experimented on. I hope you get the idea though. Now I'd really appreciate an opinion on my take of the Engine Machined Metal. I'll try to take pics in a better light tomorrow and see if it looks better. Until then what do you think?

And I did some work on the wood. I think it looks okay so far.

Some smart looking add-ons there James and it looks like you have made a very good start.
-
Hello James:
I think your swirls look fine. It is hard to tell from the photo's how distinct they are, but I can see them and that is what is important is that they are there. The wood on the cockpit floor looks good as well. I am going to try the sharpie/pencil method on my next one and see how that goes.
Looking good James, keep up the progress.

Looks great so far James. I'll be watching your progress as I muddle through my E.II/III.

Thanks guys. Despite being home the past 2 days I havent got a lot done. Here is where I am though. I built 8 rigging lines for the cockpit and 3 disappeared along with 1 pe piece. Wonder what I will have to sacrifice to find them?

Try and get the wings finished today or tomorrow. and finish up the details in the cockpit so I can button up the fuse.

Looking great! Nice wood and Metal work!

Hello James:
I think your wood in the cockpit looks pretty doggone nice. Those pesky rigging lines that vanish. All that work and lost! >:( There are two lines that attach to the back of the control column under the seat that run down through the fuselage and then attach to the A45 part. Ensure you scope out the instructions so you have them for future use.
Looking forward to your next update.

The more E Series Builds I see the more complicated they appear to be. This is looking very nice James, no small undertaking, especially if you follow through on the Taurus Engine, a Build in itself!

So redid the 4 sets of turn buckles and installed. Applied some decals and foot pedals. Painted the chains and small parts on the back wall. Added the rudder cables and the elevator cables. Will do the two cables under the seat just before I glue fuse together. Did more on the Fokker DVII too and it is almost done now.

Just need to add the 2 foot rests (will have to rob one from another kit) and I am close to buttoning this up.

Great looking cockpit, James. The wood and internal rigging look fantastic.

Well some aggravations today. While I read ahead I guess I didn't pay attention. There is an instrument and some decals that are shown on the colour page that aren't listed in the instruction part. The instrument is listed but somehow I missed it. I tried to add the decal to the triggers after the frame was all together. Wish it had been shown in step 1. It disappeared somewhere. Then while trying to get the tach decal on it curled around the tweezers and would not let go. Destroyed it. Also the starter switch is not really well shown. I got it on before I glued the fuse thankfully. Got the seat in and "cables" added to the control horns under the seat. Got the top of the fuse glued together and everything taped. After it has set for a while will do the bottom. I taped the turtle backs on to see how they looked. Something doesn't seem quite right but will have to check later. Maybe you can see the Engine Machining better in this picture. It is on the rear turtle back and beside an component that is just aluminum it really looks different. Any thoughts on it?

James, Again coming along quite well! All of these Eindecker builds are certainly tempting me!

PS: Love the swirls!!

James,
The swirled portions are great, you really aced them! This is looking very nice indeed!

Looks great, James. The metal finish shows up nicely.

Hello James:
I really don't see the problem with the turtledeck that you mentioned. Except for the rear turtledeck swirls being more pronounced I don't see any problem. So far it looks good to my eyes. Too bad about the instruments and the little decal on the trigger. I think if you put a dot of red where the decal should have gone, it would suffice. Looking forward to your next update.

I found my problem. It just didnt line up as I thought it should. Sprue gates were still there but that is fixed and it looks better. I'll do the red paint thing, dont know why I didnt think of that myself.

Nice work with that Sharpie on the swirls.
