My first 1/48 scale aircraft. I like DH.2 very much, and also I kind like rigging. So since I'm building 1/72, took a chance to have this bird in larger scale and for a first time to make some more serious rigging (at least to try). This is a work done so far. not much but at least more than almost empty cockpit with some humanoid alien in it.
Cut "holders" of a engine shaft and start some construction

Brilliant start, Jak! With the Blue Max and the Eduard kits available, you've chosen the most challenging. Bravo! I love the skinning. Is that foil? I'll have to give that a try.
Cheers,
Bud

awesome! the seat is brilliant too!

You have made an excellent start jak, your technique for the seat is exceptional, what a clever idea. And the wrinkles on the fuselage sides are very impressive, well done so far. The rigging on the DH.2 is quite complex but if you use the rigging guide available from Bob's Buckle you will find it quite easy to do, here is the link,

Thanks to all. I enjoy building details for this old kits. And Des, this rigging guide is very useful. Couldnt download it from this link, but it was easy to search for it.
The skinning is simulated on a aluminium foil from some candies. Still have to make details on the tightening to the frame and some parts like compass, drum holders, upper side of the fuselage...

Amazing work, Jak! The seat is sublime and the foil "skin" is really
a great idea. I look forward to your next updates. Well done. :D
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Nice details and your method for constructing the seat is brilliant 8)

Fantastic build. What are you making the seat out of? It looks like door screen with the wires moved up to form the bands. Love it.

Hello Jak:
Neat idea for the seat!! This is going to be a fun build to watch as you progress. You bring some neat ideas to the 'table' and it will be neat to see this jewel in the rough turn out.

The details you have added so far are amazing - Brilliantly clever, Jak.

Great start! The is looks brilliant - can you tell some more about the technique? The Smer`s Dh2 was my first wwI bird after a huge break in modelling. I`m sure that your model will be much much better than mine. Keep up the good work!
Here`s mine (nasty pics of a crude model - still I was very proud of it at the time;)

Only just found this - a terrific build. That seat is so ingenious and the fabric is another excellent idea. That engine is something to be proud of - in all this is going to be a first class model - a silk purse from a sow's ear!
-
This is a great project, Jak. Excellent work getting this one corrected and detailed.
-
Hello Jak:
Your work and attention to detail makes the engine stand out. You are making a silk purse out of this sows ear.
