Excellent project, Sir!
One of my favorite aeroplanes, will be watching closely.
-
Fuselage frame finished. I used 1mm birch strips and laminated on jig. I applied a gloss coat after fine sanding . Then applied diluted burnt umber oil color.
-
Balsa blocks carved for upper and nose covering moulds. These will be thermoform sytrene sheet. I will heat test sheets tomorrow, I hope it will be fix right.
-
Close up view of engine bearer. I made photo-etched brass parts. It will be completed when bolts and nuts arrive as ordered last week.
-

This is wonderful stuff, Sir.
Reference quality work, for sure.
-
Fuselage upper surface vacuformed ,trimmed and replaced
-
Bottom and side panels done. But need more trims and details after resin layers set.
-
very nice work thus far ozkan
-
Beautiful work thus far! Forgive me if I missed this but what are the sides covered with?
RAGIII
-
Fuselage sides covered with paper masking tape and reinforced with resin layers.
-
Very impressive, Ozkan. As always from your desk!
-
Started to engine components while others waiting for ordered materials. Engine block is carved and shaped balsa blocks. I made a patern model for cylinder and copied 8 resin pieces . More details will come ;)

very nice, you do exceptional work ozkan.
-
The moldings and castings are first rate! Very well done. How did you make the master and the mold for the cylinders?
Regards,
Bob
-
Bob cylinder formed on Dremel using patern block then cut to two half because fins are very thin and not easy to pull from silicone mould without damage. So I had to make silicon mould as left/right part. Bottom part of cylinder I used a plastic pipe and round some masking tape to get right size. One cylinder has six seperate parts and moulds. I am still working on patern for cylinder head and valve section.

Ozkan, I like the shot of the wood chips, just carve away everything that does not look like a fuselage. This is one I'll be watching. pietro
