The details of construction and After Market additions to this Build can be found in the Build Log of the same Title in the Under Construction Category. Briefly the model represents one of approximately two dozen DVII`s awarded to Canada as `War Trophies and flown by the newly formed No. 1 Squadron, Canadian Air Force at Hounslow Airfield, Upper Heyford in the UK in early 1919 before some 20 airframes were shipped to Canada. This particular aircraft was flown there by such notable Canadian Aces as Capt. Andrew McKeever (Highest scoring Bristol F2b Ace with 31 Kills on type) and 50 Victory Ace Major William Barker VC. Sadly this aircraft, along with all but one of those shipped to Canada was sent to the Wreckers in the early 1920`s.
So here`s some 25 photos of 8493 18 as she was before her Spandaus were removed and she was shipped by freighter to Canada in early 1919.

So I`ll call this one completed. For those who spotted the aileron wire popped out of the fuselage fairlead exit point like I did,(That Digital Machro Mode never fails me) it has been put back in place. I also got a good shot of the slightly crushed cooling jacket on the right side Spandau, Got to fess up to at least one of the many warts I know of!
Cheers,
Lance

Truly spectacular, Lance! Your weathering and overall finish are superb.
Cheers,

Bravo!

It seemed a little quirky to me, at the time, when Pheon issued that sheet of Canadian Fokkers, but I must admit we've seen some excellent builds of them. This is frighteningly good! I just love love muddy wheels! (...a phrase I never imagined I'd type :) )
Brilliant!

Super work, Lance, very impressive.
Best wishes
Nigel

As I have said in the build log, OUTSTANDING! Clean and Precise work, subtle weathering, beautiful work on the Lozenge, You have done it all!
RAGIII
-
Just great, Lance. You have really raised the bar again. The mud on the
tires is a great touch. Your modelling is a cut above, my friend.
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
Many Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to check in and leave such wonderful comments!
Cheers, :)
Lance

She's beautiful Lance (even if captured), you've done a great job on this build.
I love the weathering, those muddy tyres and the lozenge looks fantastic.
Thanks for the build log.
-
Truly wonderfully done Lance ! :)
Terri
-
A truely outstanding result Lance, your build and finish on this model is superb with exceptional weathering techniques right down to the mud on the tyres, the lozenge decals look spectacular, congratulations on an excellent build.
Des.

....and Thank you all, Steven, Terri, and Des for your kind remarks!
Cheers,
Lance

What can I add? Absolutely stunning build with all of the extra details that turn a kit into a superb model. Many congratulations on a wonderful build.
-
Well done Lance. Perfect balance of weathering. Great to see her rolled out in prep for Canada Day!!

Stunningly Beautiful Fokker here Lance! 8)
I'm glad that you were able to salvage this one from the Wreckers and Restore it. :)
Thanks for sharing, Jay
P.S. Your "Battle Damage" to the cooling jacket on the starboard 08/15 is just Brilliant! Nice touch. ;)
-
Steve, LM. and Jay,
Thanks for dropping by, and for the comments. I hadn't thought of a "down to the wire finish" in terms of Canada Day, Steve, but I like the thought! A "AAA" Alberta Steak on the grill, a cold Canadian Brew, (Keiths works well ;)), a couple of Hornets blowing by for the local Canada day Flypast, and a Canadian Fokker fresh in the Display Case sounds like the perfect Canadian Celebration to me!
Happy Canada Day, fellow Canucks! 8)
Cheers,
Lance

Hello, Lance -
A brilliant result on your Canadian Fok DVII - looks lovely.

Here I am chugging along at the back of the pack yet again, but hey, better late than never. Now I know how my 8493/18 should look when finished, but you need not look over your shoulder as mine will be so far removed from your slipstream as to be invisible.
Superb modelling my friend! She looks absolutely beautiful. Definitely one that you should be proud to add to the shelf. Thanks also for including a full walk-around as those images will all be of great help for me. ;D
Cheers,
Chris

I'm not a great fan of the DV11 but this is "stunning" I'm warming to this aircraft.
-
Lance,
You certainly know your way around the modelling table.
Excellent DVII ;)
Thanks for sharing.

Many humble Thanks for the positive and complimentary feedback, Gents!
Chris...... "back of the pack"? I think not as I see a tiny scurrying dot way back in your six.........#3 of the Canadian Mafia! ::)
Thumbs up........not my favorite by any means either but She's growing on me. A very plain scheme, but definitely all business and "mean" looking. 8)
von Buckle Maker...............one big let down, only used half a dozen of your buckles; a real depressing feature of a virtually rigging free subject! :'(
Cheers,
Lance

I guess it is growing on you as I see you've signed up for the D.VII GB!

I'm a bit late commenting on this, but as I expected you've produced another great model. I love the look of the lozenge with the maple leaf. Well done Lance.
Cheers

Just gorgeous Lance! Great job. ;D

Tom, Bob,
Thanks for the nice comments. Kind of wish I'd done this a few months later for the Group Build however since I'm struggling with which of several schemes to enter vs. searching for a scheme, I'd say it's not a biggie.

Lindsay,
She'd be a really tough project; different (including non-original) Lozenge areas, touch ups in lord knows how many areas, a "hybrid" DVII with parts from were not sure where/when/why!
I'll be doing the Richard Kraut "RK" Bird in lieu; although not part of Rowan's package it was very prominent in our two dozen Trophy collection.
Cheers,
Lance

Aw, quit stalling and get started on it! ;D It'll be a walk in the park for a guy with your modelling talents.

Chiming in late here, but great work Lance, the lozenge and weathering look great!

Lindsay, Chris, I admit their is an element of faint heartedness in my comments; perhaps one of you two could take it on and I'll follow later.........maybe!
.....and Thanks Brad!

Hello Lance:
This really turned out to be an outstanding build. Your shading, the chipping on the panels, the brass radiator......and especially, the lozenge wrapped frame, make this one stand out.
Outstanding work Lance. Now............on to the GB!
Best

Wow Lance
