A few of us from the Madison, WI club made the trek up to Eagle Lake for the North Woods Modelers 1st Annual contest. That's as far north in the state as I have been, and what a beautiful place it is. Rolling hills, rivers, lakes and green, green, green. I bet it is gorgeous in the fall too. This Texas boy was mighty impresses by the beauty of the place.
The show was fairly small (it was hosted at a snow-mobile race track ... how cool is that?!?!), but there were a half-dozen WW1 aircraft models on the tables. Five WnW kits (Roland C.II, Eindecker, DH.9A, Junkers J.1, Albatros D.Va) and a 1/72 Roland C.II.
The night before, I stayed up late to finish my WnW Roland C.II, which took the special "WW1 100 Year Anniversary" award. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo; lighting was not great, and all I had was my cell phone camera.
