Title: Hello from Pennsylvania
Post by: Bellerophon on June 11, 2014, 01:27:36 PM
Hi, I've been building models for 47 years, though I've taken about a 40 year break from WW1 models. My second model when I was four years old was a 1/72 (I think) Airco DH.4. With bullethole decals!

I'm currently working on a master for a semi-new Pfalz D.IIIa kit for Glencoe Models (there already having been a D.III, whence the "semi"). I just posted about it in an already existing thread on this aircraft, in the hope that I can get some help making it as accurate as possible. It's this project that lit a fire under me to register here and do a few more WW1 aircraft models again.

Cheers,
Ed

Welcome Ed!  You'll love it here.  What part of PA are you from?  I've lived in Lancaster for the past 32 years, my wife works in York, and I grew up in Newtown, Bucks County.  :D  Enjoy the forum!

Regards,

Bob

Welcome aboard, Ed!  I look forward to seeing what you do with the old Glencoe kit as well as seeing your WWI projects here.  Like Bob, I grew up in PA.  Downingtown, to be exact, then college in Kutztown, followed by a lengthy stay in Lititz, Lancaster Co.  Lovely part of the world.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks all of you for the warm welcome!

Hey Bob, I live in Morrisville, a couple miles from where you grew up. And Bud, both of my brothers and their wives are Kutztown alums and I went there till I transferred to Embry-Riddle, though I'm sure I wouldn't recognize either place any more. I grew up in Hamburg, PA, and it looks so strange to me now, it gives me an inkling of what one might experience coming out of a shelter after a bombing raid.

Bienvenue, Ed!

Nice Nelsonian (even Napoleonic.... though he was probably not as fond of the ship as Horatio!) boating reference there, Ian, Like it! Have you read David Cordingly's book? it's a cracker!
