Title: Rigging color?

Looking at photos of finished models there seems to be several different colors used by modelers.  Some appear to be blackish, others metallic silver.

Any hints?  Oh...  this would be on German aircraft.

I don`t know if at that time the wire are galvanized or naturel iron. In the german army are the crane rope defeated, because then it would be used longer.
