I did not see a category started for the N.17, so here we go, I have a couple to add...
First one is the Eduard 1/48 scale kit, I painted it to represent the Belgian N.23 flown by Edmund Thieffry. (The only external difference between the N.17 and N.23 was the position of the Vickers gun on the upper cowl, the 17 was on the centerline and the 23 was to the right of the center line due to different syncronizers.)

Here is my only 1/72 scale model in the collection - Eduard's Nieuport 17 in markings for Guynemer's N.1330 with replacement wings. I am still not sure if they should have the 4 color camouflage like on the Nieuport 16's but it will stay as it is for now.

Those are beautiful Noops Dave! Your finish and decaling are excellent. I really like the pair you've chosen to model. Thieffrey's Belgian 17 is on my list to do in 1/32, but it will be many years down the road. ;)
Very nice Cone de Penetration on Guynemer's machine. I really like the camoflaged wings w/o national markings on this one. Something a little different. :D
Very well done!
Cheers,
Bob

A lovely pair of Niueports Dave, I especially like the first one but both models are extremely well done.

Mm yes really nice!

Beautiful Brace of Nieuports Dave! I especially like the Belgian crate! Painting, Decaling and rigging are terrific!!

Those are lovely, Nieuports, Dave. Thanks for starting the topic- very nice work on them both! It's difficult to believe that the Guynemer example is 1/72nd and as others have said, the 1/48th Belgian version is just beautifully rendered!

In his time doing 17th Nieuport. First it was this:

Hello Dave and Siskin,
Very nice builds of a lovely a/c. Your schemes are all splendid. Are all the markings decals or is there paintwork too? Well done, congratulations.

Siskin,
I really like both of your Nieuports! The subtle, yet effective weathering is excellent! Beautifully done!

Ian,
One of the nicest Nieuports I have seen in this scale! Beautifully painted and your overpaint of the upper roundels is excellent!
RAGIII

Nice builds Siskin. Ian I like your Italian version with the overpainted roundels, but unfortunately your Vickers gun is upside down.

So it is.. We've all done that at least once, haven't we..? :-[

Dave, Siskin and Ian, lovely little Neuports, each and every one!

No problem Ian, maybe you can still pop it off with tweezers, scrape the glue off and put it the other way around? I don't want to be critical just like to point out things that stick out like that in the hopes that you can repair them or at least know of the problem before showing them in contests or similar circumstances.
Hopefully I did not offend you, that was not my intention, and if you can spot something with one of mine I would love to hear about it to see if it was something that I could fix.
Thanks
Dave

None taken Dave :)
I have no idea how I missed this as this was nowhere near my first WWI kit, nor my first using that gun type. I guess I was rushing, thinking back I was trying to see if the "weekend" theme could be taken literally. I'll put this one down to experience...
-
Dave, Siskin, Ian and Brad, all your Nieuports look amazing. A lovely
little aeroplane and you have all more than done it justice. Well done!
Speaking of Nieuports, here's a couple of pictures of mine done earlier.
It's an Academy 1/32 model.

Siskin, Ian, Brad and Ernie, thank you all for showing us your incredible Nieuport builds, all the models are top notch.

Thanks for the kind words, Justin. The Academy model is a good one to
start on. The interior is sparse, but lends itself to easy detailing. I don't
know if you have come across it yet, but there is a very good page of cutaway
drawings by Mark Miller that are ideal for detailing.

I've built it back in 2009, and was the first model where I've used elastomere for rigging.

Really beautiful Nieuports. The N17 has always been a favorite of mine. Here is a link to the MM site for my dual N17 Eduard builds. The second Nieuport 17 was modified into a "Recon" model based upon a picture I saw in the N17 data file. The Recon model is currently at Chino Planes of Fame as part of a display on the evolution of recon aircraft.

Thanks Frank, and Bud as well. I did the windshield with a brass frame like the original which is in the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, our National Capital. Bishop brought it home at the end of the War complete with a bullet hole courtesy of an Albatros, the bullet clipped his goggles off! It's a neat display. They also have the prop
and the blue LVG spinner which he fitted to B1566 later after his infamous (and oft disputed) Victoria Cross Mission.
Cheers,
Lance
-
Lance, as far as I understand the Windsocks this Window is more often used in Nieuport 23 (could also be a field replacement), which is mainly a Nieuport 17 with a Vickers moved form the middle more to the right side. There is even a picture with a "cicken wire glass" to avoid glass fragments in case of a damage.

It's been a while, so I thought I might bump this thread. ;)
This is my newly finished Nieuport 17 from Escadrille N.3 flown by 5-victory ace, Joseph Guiguet.
The model is one of two and is scratchbuilt in 1/144 scale. The other is an RFC machine, A.6718 from 60 Squadron (more on that later if I can). It is made from acrylic and styrene for the most part. With a mixture of hand-cut and home printed decals, plus .05mm nichrome wire for the rigging. Build time for the two was roughly six months.
Cheers!

That would be a Beautiful Nieuport build in any scale...in 1/144th simply Brilliant!

Another micro-masterpiece from you, William.
I have exhausted my superlatives for your models.

An amazing build!!

That's amazing. If it weren't for the matchstick I'd think this was a 1/48 kit.

I couldn’t say it better.

Just incredible detail in this tiny scale - you could easily be fooled into thinking this was much larger scale if only viewing pictures .......

Thanks chaps. I'm glad I reached "1/48" scale. The goal is to one day make one that passes for an okay-ish 1/32 kit : )

I reckon you've already done that a few times already!

William, that is just absolutely gorgeous!

Just noticed I hadn't added mine here, same Kit and markings as RAG III's beauty, The Copper State Ni. XVII early.

I didn't do a Build Log on this one. I struggled with a few alignment problems early on but overall it's a lovely Kit.
Cheers,
Lance

Very nice. The Nieuport XVII also looks pretty in camo.

Excellent results Lance. I Love your interpretation of the scheme! Well Done and Thanks for sharing!

I tend to prefer early Noops in silver, but that's a rather fetching scheme. Lovely work!
-
Lovely Nie, Lance. I tend to avoid the camo ones as they usually don't have upper wing roundels, (which, like WW2 Russian aircraft, I feel makes wings look very bare!) but your N17 looks terrific.

Beautiful, Lance, really beautiful. That's essentially the scheme I’m contemplating for my once and future N.16, and seeing yours just makes me want to get going on it. Unfortunately it won't be here for another couple of weeks :-/

Bumping the Nieuport thread. :)
This is the second of the two 1/144 builds, which was made alongside the Esc.3 machine that is shown on page 6. Both of these were made for a book about scratchbuilding WW1 aircraft in 1/144. It's at the editors, so hopefully there will be some good news about it soon.
This one is A.6718 from 60 Squadron, RFC. It was flown by several different pilots in the three months that it survived at the front. In March 1917 it suffered wing failure and lost the lower left wing while in flight. The pilot, Lt AR Penny managed to bring the aircraft down for a forced landing. It went away for repairs and returned sometime later to be seen with a new lower wing, upper right wing, and a fresh propellor & cowling, plus a set of red-white-blue cockades on the wheels.
The last time it was photographed was in June 1917, when it was in the hands of the Germans. After being shot down by Lt Kurt Wolff of Jasta 29. The then pilot, Lt DCG Murray was wounded and became a PoW.

Incredible! I thought I was working in a small scale but will probably now have a complex about posting from here on out!!!
And I'm pretty sure I'm seeing correctly, tires have been flat spotted to show the weight of the aircraft?... My gawd!, how much can a 1/144 scale model weigh???
Truly impressive!
-
Wow, amazing work!!

That’s pure madness! But, as I always say, “You can never have too many Nieuports”.
That’s a wonderful build, Kevin

William, that's truly breathtaking!! WOW!!
I'd be struggling to get a 1/48 Noop to turn out looking this good.
-
Ok, now that‘s going to be injected in someone’s circulatory system for supporting the white corpuscles on their hunt?
Very impressive!

I missed the 1/144th Gem of a Nieuport. Stunning as always william!
