Title: Esci 1/72 Nieuport 17C
Post by: justin1980 on May 08, 2014, 10:45:55 PM
Hi all,

This one has been waiting in the wings a bit as the Esci decals, most of them decided to disentegrate at the sight of water.  Gladly on elf the forum members stepped forward with a huge help in the form of replacement decals.  Take a bow Ernie Parsons, again a huge thanks.

I am glad this one is now finished, it has caused quite a few frustrations but I have managed to complete it.  Not as good as my previous builds (at least I followed the instructions though! ;D) but I think that was partially me having too many builds ongoing at once.

Here she is,

Great work, Justin -

Your display base sets it off a treat as well.  What next on your work bench?

Regards

Dave

Despite the problems that is a very neat little bird in a great colour scheme. And in the correct scale too!

Thanks gents, great comments as always.  At least this one looks correct! ;D

Is there any other scale?

Thanks Dave, next currently being tidied up just off the sprues is the Albatross DIII which will hopefully end up as Goering's DIII.

I did enjoy the build all the frustrations were post build/painting, I will do another 17 def, but I have no idea which scheme!

A beautiful Nieuport Justin! Apparently it's one of Charles Nungesser's mounts with it's typical "skull and candles" insignia. The rigging wires are particularly thin.

Wonderful job, Justin.  I'm happy to see the decals used so brilliantly.
What on earth did you use for the rigging in the teeny scale? It looks
just right.  Great Nieuport, my friend.  :D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Again a huge thanks Ernie, much appreciated.  For the rigging I used 0.05mm monofilament fishing line pulled through a sharpie nib to colour it black.  I think it equates to 3.6mm in 1:1 which I don't know if its accurate in thickness for a 17.

Again thanks for the comments gents.

Regards

Justin
