Nice work!

Outstanding job so far, Dave. She's going to be a beauty. Is that a flying helmet on the scarf ring?
Cheers,
Bud
-
THE FLYING HELMET IS MADE FROM TIN FOIL AND A BIT OF COTTON WOOL.
TRIED IT A COULPE OF TIMES AND AMAZINGLY ENOUGH, THE SILLY THING
TURNED OUT NOT TOO BAD. CHEERS

Dave,
Excellent project my friend. Love the added detail of the gunner helmet, sweet.Looking forward to seeing more .

THIS ONE SHOWS THE EMPTY SHELL CASE CATCHER HUNG ON THE SCARFF RING.
WHAT YOU CANT SEE, AS I HAVENT TAKEN A GOOD PIC YET, IS THE MAP TABLE AND GOGGLES.
-
Beautiful work Dave.
Paddy
-
Here's one of the Raf 4a . . . . I am not the worlds best photographer, but will try to do better in the future :-)
-
Lovely detail Dave.
Andrew
-
You might be intersted in the frame that the engine sits in.
Unfortunately the detail is mostly hidden, however it's nice
to know its's in there.
-
Dave Thats some beautiful Details there! :o I wish I didn't have such fat fingers ,I'd be trying to do the same ! :-[
Sean
-
Patience is the secret . . . . As I get older I get les of it, however, here is a couple of pics of the observers office.
-
Looks great!!
-
DID U SPOT THE PINUP?
-
Hi Dave,
A really nice start to this model, the black and white pin up is a nice touch in the observers office.
Best Regards
Keith
-
Very saucey!!!!
-
SOMETIMES I THINK I NEED TO GET A LIFE LOL
-
I think I know that woman . . . er . . . want to know her . . . ;D
What attention to detail. Tremendous work.
Cheers,
Chris
-
ITS ALL IN THE DETAIL. PLUS ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO INCORPORATE.
THEN COMES ALL THE RIGGING, BUT THAT IS LATER ON IN THE GAME.
I HAVE MADE ALL MY TURNBUCKLES AND LITTLE BRACKETS, READY TO GO.
THE LITTLE DETAILS MAKE THE BUILD JUST THAT WEE BIT MORE FUN.
-
Very well executed, Dave! I really like the gunner's head gear!
Keep posting!
-
MY PLEASURE. GLAD THAT YOU LIKE MY SILLY LITTLE ADD ONS.
-
Looking really nice! Well done detail work!!
RAGIII
-
I will post more as I progress. Cheers!
-
Outstanding details, Dave. The French post card is an especially nice touch.
Cheers,
Bud
-
Outstanding work Dave, well done, where did you get the picture of my grandmother? ::)
Cheers
Pete.
-
A couple of pics, although not too flash, to show the sheen on the wings,
darkened ribs and flying wire eyelets. Something more interesting to follow.
-
Nice subtle effect there KONG.
Cheers,
Chris
-
Many thanks. There's always the big debate about 'How shiny?'
WW1 aircraft surfaces were. New . . Yes . . . . A few weeks old
(if they made it that far)? A bit of a sheen . . . And so on.
I like the mid-ground . . . Sheen with a bit of dirt here and there.

I'm with you on this they need to be dirtied up a tad!
Sean
-
Yep! Just enough to show a bit of use. Some models you see are
too 'matt' and just don't look the part. I dont think many lasted
long enough to become 'filthy' despite the minisrations of the
ground crews.
-
Kong,
I think the truly filthy would have been the training aircraft. I resently saw a photo of a French trainer that looked as if they had painted her in used motor oil.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
I agree Gregory. The French eh? More to come soon. Thanks
for all the comments guys.
Cheers fron Down Under
Dave
-
Got the bottom wing on now . . . More pics to follow.
-
That is looking very good now, lovely job.
Cheers
Pete.
-
coming along quite well!
-
Thanks . . . Here is a 3/4 view. Apologies as I am not
the worlds best photographer.
-
Very sweet, Dave. Can't wait to see the top plane on her.
Cheers,
Bud

SAW THE REAL THING AT THE ANZAC AIRSHOW HERE IN NZ,
AT THE WEEKEND . . . . AWESOME PLANE . . . (SEEMS THAT ITS
HEADING FOR THE UK) . . . SHAME :-)

Not for us in the UK it isnt ;)
lovely build going there too BTW.
Keith
-
ENJOY IT. BY THE WAY I AM FROM SCOTLAND, BUT BEEN IN NZ FOR 13 YEARS NOW.
-
This is going to be sweet when finished :D
Your photo's are fine Dave and show the beastie to good effect.
Two things though:
- Perhaps (if possible) reduce the clutter in the background so that it's pretty much the subject and nothing else in the pic? I know it's only a progress shot - just a friendly suggestion :)
- We want more!! ;D
Andrew
-
Only happy to oblige sir . . . . Hopefully get
the undercart on this week . . Watch this space.
I should really take more close ups. Thanks
for the advice.
-
Some closeup pics, a bit better than the preceeding ones
I hope. Sorry they are small but the size restriction
makes it so.
-
Dave,
Most impressive my friend. The stuff Masterpieces are made from. I absolutely love that wicker seat,is it kit supplied?
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
The seat is the supplied part with the middle part chopped out
CAREFULLY, and then thin wire added to simulate the open
weave of the wicker construction. Almost put me in a mental
institution doing it, but the reuslt is not too bad.
-
"Almost put me in a mental
institution doing it, but the reuslt is not too bad."
Dave,
Man do I know what you mean having gone through my own wicker waterloo. Great technique on your wicker seat too,if I get brave enough I'll try that one sometime soon.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Many thanks for your comments. Always encouraging.
Helps to make better models.
Cheers from NZ
Dave
-
A picture of the optional Wind Generator, which I
believe, was used to, automatically, change the
plates in the camera, when the Observer was
otherwise detained.
-
Nicely done Kong ;)
Andrew
-
Really nice work so far Dave.
Looking forward to seeing some more.
Best Regards
Keith
-
A few pics of the now complete (minus rigging) undercarriage.
All dirtied up as I go along, but not too much.
-
Thats really coming together nicely!!!!!
Steve
-
Dave,
Outstanding work my friend. This is one of those threads that just gets better with each new update.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Stunning work Dave, beautiful model.
Cheers
Pete.
-
Cheers Chaps.
Dave
-
Dave,
A cracking build so far... More! ;)
Cheers,
Bob
-
Everything is looking great. Nicely detailed from head to toe!
RAGIII
-
Wow Dave. What a beauty!
Any chance of posting what you used for the mud splatter effect and how it was applied?
Thanks
Jim
-
The mud spatter was just plain old thinned Tamiya Red Brown on the
end of an artists brush with stiff bristles, and then held at a respectable
distance from the model. A finger drawn across the bristles, sprays,
very lightly, a few spots of paint onto the parts to be 'dirtied'. Then you
wash your finger. . . . . .
Here is a nights work on the Holts' Flare . . Still to do the port one and
add all the wires.
All the very best
Dave
-
Dave,
Holy cow she's got flares!! Excellent additional details my friend.Very very impressive project and even more so with each new update.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Is that kit supplied Dave or did you scratch it? Either way it's mighty fine and excellently done :)
Andrew
-
TWO PART KIT SUPPLED, BUT WITH HE ADDITION OF WIRES TO
THE TEMINAL BLOCK,MID WAY UP THE POST. THE LAMP IS AS IS.
tH EBUNGEE AT THE FRONT AND THE EYELETS ARE EXTRA.
tHE PRINCIPAL WAS THAT IT WAS HINGED AT THE WING, AND
THE BUNGEE KEPT IT IN THE VERTICAL POSITION. IF THE PILOT
HAPPENED TOP ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH THE GROUND WITH THE
WING, THE POST WOULD FOLD BACK. i STILL HAVE TO ADD THE WIRE
THAT GOES ALONG FROM THE TERMINAL BLOCK TO THE FUSELAGE.
BUT MOSTLY ITS 50% SCRATCH.
DAVE
-
...i STILL HAVE TO ADD THE WIRE
THAT GOES ALONG FROM THE TERMINAL BLOCK TO THE FUSELAGE.
BUT MOSTLY ITS 50% SCRATCH....
Awesome and thanks for the info on how it worked, etc.
On another note - I'm not having a go in any way - is there a reason you write in capitals? It usually denotes 'shouting' on a forum. With your amazing work you don't need to shout ;) ;D
Andrew
-
Im a draughtsman and I'm at work, where I tend to have
the caps lock on a lot. Sometimes I forget.
-
Looking very nice Dave!
Sean
-
Wiring done on the port flare, and the
Starboard one ready to be done. Also
the wires and clips from the pilots office
to the flares. Progressing slowly.
-
hey no model stuff while youre at work....nice job on this one!!!
Steve
-
I have a very understanding employer. I do CAD
design all day, so the odd few minutes here and
there is accepted practice. The real model stuff
happens at home. Therapy :-)
-
Dave,
Don`t know how but I missed this one til now.....................absolutely gorgeous! Your detail work is `Master Class`and I really look forward to more photos as you complete her. My compliments on a really impressive bit of work.
Cheers,
Lance
-
Many thanks Sir. Glad that you like it.
I take a lot of time, but, hopefully, the
results show.
What can I get up to at the weekend? :-)
Kindest Regards from New Zealand
Dave
-
Beautiful, beautiful work.
Paddy
-
The fruits of a wet weekend. A rather boring 100lb
bomb, carrier and operaing cable. The photos are
not the greatest, however it does show a bit more
progress.
Dave
-
Dave,
She's coming right along my friend. Looking forward to seeing more soon.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Looks good. Thats a dirty bird!!! Dont forget to work some of that dirt colour into your tires.
Steve
-
Cheers Steve
That joy along with a few others, rigging etc., has still to come.
Attempting the laminations on the 4 bladed prop at the
moment. It would try the patience of a Saint :)
Best Regards
Dave
-
Looking great now Dave, come on mate the rigging the easy bit. ::)
Cheers
Pete.
-
Yeah Right! I don't mind that bit. All you need is patience.
Attached is the prop, which took a couple of attempts to
get right, and so it goes onto the 'besatie' tonight.
Cheers Lads
Dave
-
That prop is a beauty!
Paddy
-
Love that prop.
Cheers
Pete.
-
Dave,
I'll second Paddy beautiful prop my old friend. Outstanding wood grain.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Thanks guys. It was a mission.
-
Beautiful work on the propeller Dave, and the rest of the model is looking spectacular, your attention to detail is incredible. With what you have done so far the rigging will be a breeze for you, looking forward to seeing more updates.
Des.
-
Magnificent work on the prop Dave. The more I see of this sort of work the more I wonder why I hand carve the little devils. I usually paint the Brit ones as the laminations are much more subtle, however they don't come off nearly as great as this one...beautiful job!
I am really enjoying following your build, you've got a real gem coming along here.
Cheers,
Lance
-
Thanks a lot guys. As my wife says, 'Enjoy your passion'.
Sometimes I think I go too far, but as long as people
who see it get pleasure from it, then it is all worth while.
Best Regards
Dave
-
Beautiful work Dave,
The time you have spent adding the extra details has been well worth the effort.
The Prop is stunning.
Best regards
Keith
-
Great Prop! Worth any effort you put into the painting of the laminations!
RAGIII
-
Thanks lads........It on now, so here it is in its new home.
On to the next bit . . . . . . Oh Joy!
-
This is going to be a truly spectacular bird Dave - I think I can safely state on the behalf of all here that you're definitely not going 'too far' at all. Be glad your wife has the attitude she has!! 8)
Is this for your own collection or is it a commission?
Andrew
-
Its all for my own collection, satisfaction and sanity.
I find modelmaking the greatest way to 'chill' out,
and it sure keeps the grey matter working. I also
love researching the thing before the first slice of
the scalpel.
Best Regards
Dave

Im a draughtsman and I'm at work, where I tend to have
the caps lock on a lot. Sometimes I forget.
Not another MAD CADDIE? ;D if so then theres two of us. seems AMS is a common affliction too. stunning work.
Keith
-
Hi
Yep the mad caddies is back. Here is the weekends
results . . . Bomb racks . . . Getting there
Dave
-
The rest
Dave
-
Forgot these
-
Dave,
Outstanding progress my friend. Those bomb racks are fantastic and add a lot to youe RE 8 appeal. Excellent details throughout, absolutely top shelf quality craftsmanship. Can't wait to see more.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Cheers Gregory,
Just noticed I have doubled up. Here's the one
that should be there
Best Regards
Dave
-
This is shaping up into a leathal RE8. Nice work!!!!
Steve
-
WOW!!! :o outstanding work . I haven't
Checked in on this build in a while and I have to say
I'm truly impressed with your work to date and
Not to mention attention to detail!
Sean
-
Brilliant work on the bomb racks, your attention to detail is incredible, this is shaping up to be a real show stopper.
Des.
-
Added 4 of the Copper Bombs . . . Still to do the other side
before I go onto the ailerons and top wing
-
One more view
-
Dave,
Those racks are outstanding in their detail my friend. This thread just keeps getting better with each update. She's shaping up to be one awesome Masterpiece.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Really nice progress Dave,
the extra detail you have added is very convincing.
Best Regards
Keith
-
Not much this weekend. Will be doing all the detail
on the to wing this week. A major job I think. But
I got the bottom wing ailerons on . . . .
Cheers
Dave
-
Stunning work! Will refer to this thread often when I build mine. :-)
Cheers,
Eric
-
Looks good. Youre on the home stretch
Steve
-
Dave,
Impressive work my friend.I'm still amazed at the flares,do they ever look great.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Love those tones , highlights and shadows around those wing ribs. Beautiful work.
Paddy
-
Dave,
If the finish is even half as good as your progress thus far you've got an absolutely stunning masterpiece here. A beautiful example of the modellers' art! Hope you post lots of photos of the final product.
Great work all round!
Cheers,
Lance
-
Thanks Lance, doing the cowlings now, which will be left off, and then
on to the top wing and all that's involved there. Rigging is always a
challenge, but I actually enjoy doing it. The air can get blue, but the
end result (hopefully) shows. Have a good one.
Dave
-
Excellent work, very accurate. Take good note of RE.8 build.
-
Many thanks Eudgen. Hi from New Zealand.
Glad that you like it.
Cheers
Dave
-
Started on the top wing. Hope this pic shows the results of
the preshading of the ribs and tapes. Doing the underside
this weekend . . . . Joy
-
Dave,
The preshading looks great my friend. Can't wait too the underside.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Trial fit of the top wing and it sits right. Thank goodness.
Getting there.
-
Thats looking very slick!!!
Steve
-
Wow - this thing is a wonderful monster Dave!
Andrew
-
Cheers Andrew, just a few more tweaks, the ailerons,
then the rigging . . . . . .
-
She has wings!! VERY NICE!
Sean
-
She looks great, but don't forget to get your rigging started before you put the top wing on, makes life a lot easier.
Cheers
Pete.
-
Been there, made the mistake with a Bristol.
Never again.
Cheers
Dave
-
Dangly things and the first turnbuckle.
Ever onwards, ever upwards . . . . . LOL
-
Dave,
What's that a job's program for spider's. Seriously my friend the first rigging looks smart so far. Keep up the excellent work and I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Very nice rigging Dave, great start.
Cheers
Pete.
-
Did the rigging that would be difficult when the wing
is placed on top, and . . . . . added another flying
helmet . . . The wing goes on this weekend, and the
swearing begins . . . lol
All the best lads
Dave
-
Awesome build!...Ill be following too.... My RE8 is on its way.
-
Looking good Dave, as per normal!!
Andrew
-
The wing is on . . . . And some rigging was started, but
the patience ran out. Best to do wee bits at a time.
The dogs breakfast looks intimidating, but a slow
approach is the key. And the patience . . . :-)
-
. . . . . . . and there is more
-
Last of all . . . . I did get some done . . . .
Cheers Lads
Dave
-
Dave,
She looks awesome my friend. Although your not quite done I'll go ahead and say thanks for this thread. It's been a great pleasure to have followed along from the beginning my friend.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Thanks Gregory, I still have the ailerons and the remainder of the rigging
to go, and a few little minor repairs. Models are supposed to be shown,
and even in their raw state, its always good to get feedback. Encouragement
makes for better models.
Also, congaratualtions on this excellent site and forum, and the good people contributing
to it.
Plenty more to come.
Best Regards from New Zealand
Dave
-
Fantastic build, love the "extras". Nice seeing photos of the daunting rigging spaghetti-- its inspiring to see you get through that...!
Congrats
-
It's like hacking away at a runaway Ivy vine! ;D
Nearly done Dave - it's been an absolute pleasure watching you build this jewel!
Andrew

Cheers Andrew, the fat lady hasn't sung yet though.

Oh I know but she'll be grand when she does ;)
Cheers from a wet east coast of Oz.
Andrew
-
Dave,
Pretty to watch; she's turned out beautifully and I'll be watching as she hits the final stretch. Nicely done all round!
Cheers,
Lance :)
-
Thanks Lance.
-
You're doing some very nice work here. What are you using for your rigging? It has a nice limp look about it.
Cheers,
Chris
-
Hi Chris
Its just .15mm monofilament fishing line, which will be painted with a thinned
medium grey to simulate the satin stainless steel cables and flying wires.
Cheers
Dave
-
Beautiful work on the rigging Dave, she is really starting to look the part now, well done.
Des.
-
Thanks Des
Soon have to put it in the Completed eh?
Dave
-
Hi Chris

Cheers
Dave
Dave,
What do you paint the rigging wires with? I've used both acrylics and enamels, well thinned, and can't get the "clean" finish I want. Also tried markers to no improvement although I am looking for some higher quality markers (Staedler?) in the right colours. Any hints would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Lance
-
Hi Lance, I use the old Tamiya Medium grey, thinned to the consistency
you would have when spraying, and lightly brush it on in sucesssive
layers until it looks ok . . . . Another few pics to look at by the way.
Have a good one:-)
All the very best
Dave
-
The other 2
-
Dave,
Thanks for the quick reply on my question. I'll have to try thinner and more coats.
As for the RE8, one short word covers it nicely........."MAGNIFICENT", and per Forest Gump, "that's all I'm gonna say about that"!!
Cheers,
Lance
-
Thank you Lance . . . . Good luck with the rigging.
I broke a wheel off last night, what with all that trailing
line . . . . !@#!@#!@ . . . . Patience is the key, and I
lost it . . . . . All fixed, and a better, slower attempt tonight.
Have a good one Lance
Dave
-
Weekend is over and the wheel is fixed with a brass pin. I changed the
control wire on the top wing to a smaller diameter. Also the main rigging
is now complete, less painting, and swearing LOL
Cheers
Dave
-
And the laast two
Hopefully get more done this week.
All the best lads
Dave
-
Drew,
Awesome project my friend. I'm really going to hate to see this excellent thread coming to a close. Thanks for such an awesome thread .

Top Hole Kornbeef, What! Bloody good show that chap!
Thanks Biggles

Didnt get much done this weekend, as my poor old
Cat of 16 years passed away, but here's a wee update.

Have a good week lads
Dave
-
Dave,
She's looking awesome my friend.Outstanding project to date.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
PS: Sorry to hear about your poor cat,sad news to any animal lover my friend.
-
Thanks Gregory, hopefully I'll progress further this week.
It's the fiddly stuff now. I keep on knocking the odd bit off.
S##t happens.
Dave
-
At this point they're kinda like restringing a banjo with a pair of tweezers thru a pipe.....
Steve
-
Great job Dave, looking really good, for the next one, join the Fee club, 1 Kilo of plastic and hundreds of parts.
Sorry to hear about the cat, one of ours is about 15 years old now.
Cheers
Pete.
-
Excellent build, rig and finish, Dave.
Keep going!
Von Buckle
-
Dave,
At the risk of becoming (more??) repititious, every time I revisit this thread it's even better. You are producing truly masterful results here, very inspiring. And, as a fellow keeper and lover of animals, my sincere sympathy for the loss of your pet. As a good friend once said to me, "they don't live long enough..."
Suggestion: have you considered sending a photo or two to Ray Rimmel at Windsock Worldwide? This one should be, at a minimum, in his Readers Gallery Section. Your work is top notch and deserves recognition.
Cheers,
Lance
-
Thank you Lance. I might just do that, as apart from my local model club
(apart from yourselves) nobody really sees them. I will have a look and
see what happens. Have a good one my friend.
All the very best from New Zealand.
Dave
-
Getting ready to start my own "Ninak" I'd love to have a tutorial. Beautiful build, very motivating! I'm glad I become part of this forum. Great people!!!
Kind Regards
Rick

Sorry about the loss of your pet my friend. It's amazing how important these creatures are our in our lives. Was recently in your shoes with a "drop-off" that had adopted us and whose time had come, very sad anyway (we live in the country and not-too-infrequently pets show up that misguided city folks think will thrive in the wild... Sometimes they survive long enough to find their way to our door... we do what we can)
-
Thanks. I'ts a shame, but it's also amazing how much of your life that is
geared around them. Such is life. We live in a quiet part of North Wellington
and he had a bit of bush to explore, so he was happy. Ce la vie eh?
On with the airplane . . . . Better catch up and get it finished.
Cheers
Dave
-

Dave
Dave,
Recently I attended the Western Canadian IPMS Regional Show and met a very interesting "plastic junkie", a retired surgeon who submitted a few photos to Windsock years back. In the event he had several full build articles published, works with Lance Kreig on articles, and his work is absolute "world class" (he took several awards at the show) If you have a collection of Windsocks look for Tom Morgan. His 1:48 Neiuport 28 and a scratch built DH2 are in Vol 19,No's 1 and 2 and Vol24, No 6. I back ordered them just for learning purposes, great stuff and, I must say, your model is in the same class. Hope to see your RE8 in the magazine soon!
Cheers,
Lance
-
Did a bit more of the rigging, so here's some
proof that I didn't knock anything off. The
weekend will be more procuctive, because I
think our weather is to be horrible. HAve a good
one lads . . .
All the very best
Dave
-
And some more
-
ps.
Lance, I contacted Ray Rimmel, and he is happy to publish the 'finished item'
in the Readers Gallery of Windsock. Thanks for the info and the push in the
right direction.
Cheers
Dave
-
Dave, that's very impressive and a beautiful finish. What colour did you use for they tyres? Now I'm painting mine, (Pfalz), I've noticed tyres seem to range in colour from near black to a Medium Sea Grey- and I can see no rhyme nor reason for the differences.
Cheers.
Dal.
-
G'Day Dal
I just took Tamiya, mid grey and lightened it a wee bit.
Nothing magic. I found a colour photo of a CAmel and 'winged it'.
Here's a few more pics as an update. The rigging is being done
slowly to avoid anY 'upsets' . . . Patience being the key.
These two show the pitot tubing.
-
This is one of the hardest bits . . . The rigging inside.
Fiddly or what?
Cheers Lads
Dave
-
Dave,
Fiddly yes,but oh so expertly done my friend. Bravo Dave Well Done.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Cheers Gregory,
I'ts hard not to break bits off, as I have been doing.
I dont have big hands, but the old Lewis gun has been
through the wars.
All the very best to yourself
Dave
-
Tail rigging and elevator done now.
Getting there.
By the way . . . .the foam is to stop the somewhat fragile tailskid
becoming a casualty of my clumsiness . . . . I've broken off too
many bits recently.
HAVE A GOOD ONE LADS
Dave
-
Two more . . . .
-
Beautiful work!!!
Steve
-
The end is in sight, but still taking my time. I would
hate to get this far and stuff it up. Many thanks for you
and all the other lads interest. It fair warms the heart.
Have a good one.
Dave

Cant say much more than WOW! Stunning Modeling!!!
RAGIII
-
Excellent work Dave, the rigging looks fantastic and the overall build is brilliant, this is a real credit to you, well done.
Des.
-
Thanks Des
Once this one is finished, its on to either a Fee or a Dh9a.
I have the boxes waiting but cant decide. First thing first.
All the very best from across the ditch

Looking quite excellent.

Many thanks Sir . . . . I'm glad that you like it.
Thanks for replying.

Cheers Lads
Dave

Have a good weeken my friends
Dave

Thank you Sir
Have a good one
Dave
-
I didnt know Re8's were electric powered - all you did was plug them in.......all kidding aside she looks amazing!!!!
Steve
-
Nice one.......didn't notice that.
So much for composition eh?
Cheers for the chuckle.
All the best
Dave
-
Looking quite nice.
-
Finally got all the tail rigging done and a start
made on the ailerons . . . . Getting near the
finishing line, ever so slowly. Still got to do the
Cooper bombs under the starboard wing, and
get the base made for it.
Have a good week lads

Dave,
Outstanding works my friend.

Dave, thanks for the advice on the tyres. There seems to be a lot of variation in the colours, even looking at B&W photo's- something to keep an eye on as I do more WWI subjects.
Your kit's turned out beautifully, mate. I've always liked the RE 8 and you've really captured the look.
Cheers.
Dal.
-
Thanks Dal,
Almost at the end . . . Yeah, the colours and shades that you see on
b/w pics vary a lot, but its all guesswork anyway. I think that you just do what
you think is nearly or 'almost' nearly right, and GO FOR IT.
Have a good one mate, and thanks for replying.

Truly a feast for the eye's Dave - every time I look at your pics new details 'pop' out......superlative mate, superlative ;)

Two more . . . . Need to put it on a base.
Frightened to drop it.
-
Dave,
Absolutely beautiful my friend. Outstanding rigging to date. Are you planning on adding a figure or two on your base?
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
-
Thanks Gregory,
No. Just the beastie itself with its' cowlings
lying on the ground. Got some of that
'Static Grass' to try the effect. Fingers crossed.
Best Regards
Dave
-
I don't blame you for not wanting to hide the donk, Dave, it would be a shame to do so.
Dal.
-
I'd be afraid to touch it let alone drop it ;D
Andrew
-
That's the only problem with them.
Bits drop off . . . . Sort of like life in general really.

Dave,
I don't get in here as often as I'd like, and then, only have time for a quick scan over some of the threads, but your RE.8 build is one I've been watching.
Absolutely gorgeous model! When I get around to building my WNW RE.8, your posts will be of tremendous value as references.
Cheers,
Eric

No worries Eric. Cheers for that. Only too happy that
other folks get something out of my efforts. Magic

Almost finished. Soon have to get some pics in the
Completed section. The static grass makes the model
base even better. The fisrt time I've used it and it
does'nt look too bad.
