I have received news from Cheryl, Gregory's wife and she has informed me that Gregory is not well at all, he suffered another major stroke. To explain it better I have pasted the email I received from Cheryl this morning, all we can do is hope and pray for Gregory to recover.

Des.
Please excuse my slow replies to your e-mails. As I know Gregory has told you of his many health problems over the last few years. I have more bad news to pass on, Gregory has had another major stroke. Thankfully after two months he has been released from the hospital and is currently is a patient at Stroke Rehabilitation Center on the coast. We are all praying for a for a full recovery but we all know a complete recovery is not likely. I have been told by Gregory's doctors not to expect too much but they confident that in time recover some of his mental and physical abilities.
Knowing my husband's will and determination I know he'll give this a good fight to recover as much as possible as soon as possible. Please say a little prayer for him and feel free to let all of Gregory's friends know what has happened and pray too.The prayer's will be appreciated by the entire family. Thank you for being a good friend to my husband.

This is truly sad news. :(
Perhaps there is some small gesture we can do for him, maybe to lift his and Cheryl's spirits a tiny bit. I was thinking of something that could go to his room, "signed" by all his forum friends from all over the world.

Thank you for posting this, Des. I was afraid of this. I remember Gregory's last stroke. He came back from that one enough to participate in the forum, although he had trouble working on his models. Please pass on to Cheryl that she and Gregory continue to be in my prayers.

I will surely pray for Gregory and Cheryl.

Des, please forward my best wishes and hopes for a recovery for Gregory - I didn't know him too well on here, but he always had time for an encouraging word for me.
-
Thank you for sharing this with us Des. My thoughts are with Greg,Cheryl and their family.
Best wishes

Very sad to read this - Gregory is a real gentleman and always took the trouble to comment on all members build logs and completed models.
My very best wishes to Gregory and his family for a speedy recovery.
Regards
Dave

I have written to Cheryl asking if she doesn't mind sending a mailing address for Gregory, if she does it means that we can send cards etc direct to Gregory and hopefully lift his spirits. I will keep you informed.

Thanks for keeping us informed Des. Sad news indeed, but at least we now know the situation and can keep him in our thoughts...

Very sad news indeed. Thank you, Des, for passing this on to all of us. Greg is very much in my thoughts and like all, I hope some comfortable degree of recovery results for him. A true Gentleman whose contributions here have been significant. I believe the suggestion to send him messages of encouragement and comfort is appropriate with his Spouse's agreement.

Such sad news, but at least we have some answers. My thoughts and prayers go out to Gregory,
Cheryl and their family. I dearly hope he will recover in time. It would be very good if
his forum friends could be able to send cards to him.

Sad news and I'm sure all those he has brushed shoulders with on many forums over the years will know him for the gentleman he is and wish him all the best in his recovery.
I hope his wife Cheryl and himself get some joy from knowing how he is missed by us all and how we all think of him.

Thanks for the update Des.
We are a small community and although very few of us have actually met face to face, that makes this sort of news no easier to take.
My thoughts are with Gregory and his family, I hope that some time soon he will be back at home, feeding the carpet monster.
Go well my friend!

This is very sad news indeed – I was looking forward to chatting with him here on this forum, as he was the one inviting me to come here a year ago or so.
I do hope to get this opportunity soon as he recovers. He and his family will be in my thoughts.
Gregory – get well soon my friend!

Very sad to hear about Gregory. My thoughts and payers are with him and his family. Count me in if we do something for him.
-
Des I too have only just seen this sad news of Gregory. I too wish him, Cheryl and his family the very best for the future. It is indeed sad to read of someone who has suffered in this way - I too hope that he will recover enough to be able to feed the carpet monster again at some time in the future. A true gentleman, so sad that it should have happened to him.
-
Thank you for the update Des. Please pass along my best wishes as well. An address if possible would be good, I think a lot of the forum members would send their best wishes.
-
If we do something as a group, it should involve a SPAD. That is his favorite WWI airplane.
-
here's the kind of thing I had in mind -- have something like this printed this out in large format (36" or 48" or something), everyone that wishes could "sign" (attach their handle or name along with their flag) . Gregory & Cheryl would see all the support from all over the world...
just a thought, feel free to shoot it down, my skin is thick.

I'm just reading the news. This is sad news indeed. He supported my D.VII build last year and he also send me messages and pictures of a dutch B25 he has made some time ago.
I would like to wish him a speedy recovery and it is good to read the words from his wife.
I like the suggestion from Bo too. Let's all send a wish. I'll try to print it tomorrow.
regards,
Ivo

Bo, great idea. ;)
36" x 24" should do the trick.
Put me down for $11.50. I can paypal you the funds as and when you need it.
Cheers,
Bob

It would be great if we could dig up a higher resolution SPAD image... I'll ask Dave Douglas, does Ronny Bar or Bob Pearson owe anyone a favor here ;) ?
(But if not, even a little bit pixelated it will look great from across the room...)
-
Hi Bo,
Please let me know how much the contribution is. I can pay by PayPal too. Thank you and Des for the wonderful idea!
Kind regards
Patrick
-
If paypal is an option for payment, please mark me down for $5

Wonderful idea, Bo! Well done.

Gregory would be one of the first in line to help someone here. We can do the same for him. Well done Bo. Maybe some of the extra $ could be used for a Heart and Stroke Research donation.

I wrote to Cheryl two weeks ago asking the condition of Gregory now that he has moved back home, I have not received a reply as yet but I will keep you all informed if I hear anything. Cheryl only checks the emails periodically so it may take her a while to see and respond to my email.

Thanks for the update, Des, let's hope all is going well....

Being far enough down the road in his recovery to be able to move home has to be a good thing. Best wishes to Gregory and his family. I'm sure that he'll be touched to know that his forum friends are keeping in touch through Des' efforts.
Cheers,
Chris

Thank you Des for keeping us informed. Strangely I thought about him only a couple of days ago and hoped that he would be getting better. I continue to hope.
