All,
Completed this evening -
Not a WNW kit, but .................
A quick, thoroughly enjoyable build of another of Revell's big, classic kits. These kits are obviously not up to modern standards, but with a little bit of effort they can build into a reasonable representation of the subject to hand.
My thanks to those who supported me during the build - I really appreciated the words of encouragement.
Regards
Dave

A classic beauty Dave! You have captured the quintessential WWI fighter plane very well indeed. Congratulations!
Cheers,

I certainly do like it Dave. Well done!

You certainly dragged the beauty out of the beast Dave. Shows what can be done with some of these classics with a little, or probably a lot, of talent and effort. Lovely work, I like her a lot!
Cheers,
Lance

Very nice. It is great to see, there is world beyond WNW ;)

Very nice work. Well done.

Wow, Dave! She's lovely! Maybe she came from humble beginnings, but she looks like royalty. The red over the streaking looks very convincing. Truly excellent, mate!

From a sow's ear (well almost) a silk purse has been made. Excellent modelling of an old kit. Wonderful finish and I really like the additional details in the cockpit. Very well done.
-
Many thanks, gentleman!
I really enjoyed building this one - next up will be Revell's large scale Camel - this will then complete the set of 1/28 scale Revell WW1 kits.
Looking forward to seeing what the rest of you have been up to now.

Hello Dave:
Again, this turned out really nice, quite a stunner. I like these kits, and I think the DVII is next on my agenda in this scale. I am looking forward to your Camel build.
Best

Thanks, Mark!
Yes, great - you must have a go at one of these large scale Revell kits - they actually go together very well on the whole - I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Just adding some basic detail really makes a difference - going for the DVII is also a good choice and I will look forward to seeing you have a go at this one.
As for doing a build log for the Camel I am in two minds to be honest, but suspect I will probably decide against it.
Can't wait to see you have a go at the DVII though.

Hello Dave,
As I said before, this is a terrific build. There are many things I like about it. The color is very nice, your weathering extremely well done and the interior was outstanding. Many congratulations.
Kind regards

Wonderful model, Dave. Could you tell me what was the brand of red paint you
used? Thanks for sharing your talents.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello, Ernie -
Thanks, mate!
Yes, with pleasure - red is Revell's ('aqua colour' range) Carmin Red code 36 which was the colour call out in the instructions. Personally, I find this shade of red dries to a light shade bordering an almost orange tone in strong light. In this case, painted over a darker base coat (olive brown) changed the tone to a much darker shade which looks better to my eyes.

As I said during the ..."in progress>>>", good to see others still turning out quality builds of the old girl !

Thanks, Ed -
I think the old kits can actually be more of a fun build on occasions.

An excellent result Dave from an aged kit, I really like the red and how it turned out, congratulations on turning this ancient kit into a thing of beauty.

Thanks, Des -
These old, large scale Revell's actually have a lot going for them and turn out well with a small amount of effort - really worth a go.

Nice result fron this old kit, a fond childhood memory of mine ( and most likely a lot of others here, )
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the Camel...
